Crotch_Crescent
AV says they have to get faster on the back end. We can take a young forward from them and a pick, plus take some cap garbage. Tanev 4th round pick Pavel Buchnevich 1st Round Pick (21st Overall) Dan Girardi or Marc Staal cap dump This would be something similar to what Chi Town did to dump Bickell onto the Canes at the cost of Teuvo. Or what the yotes did for florida, Bolland and Crouse to Yotes for a draft pick. Rangers would do this deal as they can then re-sign Brendan Smith or try to sign Kevin Shattenkirk. Benning call the Rangers!!
shazzam
What exactly does AV mean though? Fast at moving the puck out of the zone? fast at skating? fast at joining the rush? fast at getting the puck on net? fast at walking the line?

In his exit news conference he said they have to faster moving the puck out of their end. He had tanman back in Van so it's a known quantity and tanman will make an excellent pair with Mcdonagh. Point of proposal is more a cap dump scenario for Benning to consider. Weaponize your cap space!!

Pears
The Rangers have next to nothing in terms of prospects/young players so it's highly unlikely they move Buchnevich and a 1st.

BoesersFlow
Girardi was a monster for the Rangers, one of the reasons they got out of the first round.

Fine. I still agree with this destination for Tanev. So...take the 1st this year, add their 3rd this year, 5th next They need to get faster on the back end...great! Include Subban in this deal. This gives the Rangers a shot suppression machine (Tanev) that upgrades their back end quite a bit; they get speed and some potential offense with Subban. If Subban included, then...add 2nd next year. I don't think Tanev is quite as valued as we think he is, but I do think he is about the most valuable asset we have that we could realistically move (ie Horvat is worth more, but moving him is suicide for both Benning and Linden, and attendance). Subban is buried in our system. Right now, I would say that, after the current Canuck starters are excluded, then Pedan, McEneny, Biega and Juolevi are all ahead of him, and Brisebois looks poised to pass him also. They actually have a lot of young players about to hit their prime, Hayes, Miller, Skjei, zbad, vesey, krieder are all in the 23-25 yr old window that Benning talked about when he acquired sven, granlund and guddy. So Bush would be someone they can deal as they have forward depth but need help on the back end. The King will love tanev over Staal or Girardi. Can't deny that, but I think that series has given him some extra leash.. But even that usually disappears quickly in the NHL.
Nuxfanabroad
Girardi & Staal are singin' YSWMe(Yerr stuck with Me!) to the beat of YMCA NMC's for the both. These kinds of contracts will prove interesting at the ED. Watch media/league try to shame Cdn franchises to honor every drunken promise; whilst key US teams will be able to flagrantly Houdini out of any commitment they choose. Limited NTC (with NMC) starting next year for Girardi in the final three years of his deal where he has to specify a 15 team no trade list. We're probably on it. I don't mind the idea of the return (Girardi only really, just 3 years left plus switching to the NTC and actual salary being paid is $5M/$4M/$4M) but even with some early twenties players already in their system they'll still want some better prospects in the next wave and are unlikely to trade the top end ones they do have away. Rush17
I'm not a fan of what we would be getting back in this proposal. I'm sure they have some other assets we could really use though. This whole "draft lotto" really creates some real uncertainty. I think this makes it much more exciting overall :D
