My immediate thought was that the attendees of this concert are likely going to be kids.

Whoever did this truly is a sick bastard.

Just maintain the same level of contempt for when western powers bomb hospitals & wedding parties. Moral high ground has been squandered..repeatedly.

What does it matter? Regardless of skin tone, religious belief, nationality, yearly income, a sick person did this. People are still dead and hurt. More fortunate people are scared.

This person needs to be put down and not in a very nice way.

because of the already damaging image they have based on the past few years. I hope its not a muslim

Oh, I agree. I'm extremely critical of the US and UK in particular and their atrocities in the Middle East and beyond.

Does it really matter what faith this nut job says he is?  The IRA were proudly wearing the cross of Christ, but they were not truly Christian.  Whomever did this is of no faith.

nope it doesn't matter what faith the nutjob is associated with but all I'm saying is that if it is indeed a reported muslim that there will be more attacks and fear mongering from americans, from trump. For the past several years, the predominant attacks have been from "proclaimed muslims" and you cannot deny that it is a violent religion

Sadly it all comes down to Religion. The IRA  were Catholic believers who wanted the Protestants gone. Being raised in A Catholic family, I found that when it comes to protecting your beliefs. God was always on your side, no matter what. It's the same with all faiths it seems Doing something in the name of your God, seems to earn you A free pass no matter what.

He's a freelancer, but like I posted earlier, he just lost one of his regular publishers (AXS).  His reputation just took a serious hit today.

Almost started a twitter account to make boston marathon related tweets to this jackass.  Think he'd get the frigging point if these came across his feed?

I guess this guy erased his tweet faster than a tsarnaev could fill a pressure cooker.

His attention bled out faster than a marathon runner

Looks like his career is more finished than a marathon runner in Boston

What an a***ole

My wife JUST got home from visiting her best friend in Manchester 6 days ago, apparently they live within blocks of this event.  They're wide awake and panicking right now because of this, whole area was on lockdown etc.  Wife is still on facetime with her.

So not cool.  These are literal children and teenagers.  The internet is filled with hate from those to scared to voice their opinions in person.

Making jokes about Boston bombing, all you are doing is stooping to his level of stupidity.

I'm sorry, but that's simply not true and the situation isn't really comparable. While it's true that in Northern Ireland those from a Catholic background made up the majority of the PIRA, they didn't 'want protestants gone'. Loyalist groups perhaps. But ultimately they wanted a united Ireland free of Britain and while less common there were Protestants within the ranks.

The troubles would be better described as republican vs unionist as opposed to Catholic vs Protestant. It was (and still is) more related to culture and politics than religion.

Of course there are plenty of US conservatives in these twitter threads blaming Liberals in the US for a bombing in the UK thousands of miles away.... :picard:

Liberals are to blame...as are conservatives. It's the false liberal/conservative dichotomy that trumps rational thought that is leading to this. We have conservatives who want to bomb everyone. We have liberals who put political correctness above all else. Preachers in the UK are allowed to openly preach about terrorist attacks, but political correctness prevents the authorities from dealing with them.

People need to end this whole liberal/conservative thing and acting rationally.

I agree.  Give liberals time, they'll eventually start saying stupid things too.  It's a self-inflicted poison in this country that's getting worse.

Nowhere in that tweet does it say it is a terrorist attack, neither in print nor on the audio/video.  It does say it is currently being treated as one till they have further information.

TERRORISM

Ariana Grande concert 'has the workings of jihadist terrorism': former US law enforcement officials

The explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in northern England on Monday night that killed at least 19 and injured more than 50 "has the workings of jihadist terrorism," according to former U.S. law enforcement officials with experience in counter-terrorism.

Police said the explosion is being investigated as a terrorist attack, unless new information proves otherwise. Britain’s terrorist threat level has been set at “severe” in recent years, indicating an attack is likely.

There was no immediate confirmation of who was behind the carnage.

“It’s got the works of jihadist terrorism—you have an American performer in the U.K. and notably, extremists frequently target children because that hurts and weakens people, adults,” former FBI special agent and former FBI national spokesperson John Iannarelli told Fox News. “The location of the bombs are a tell-tale sign—the bombs were outside the secured areas and planted in the lobby areas.”

Iannarelli added: “At some point, you need to decide where your security begins and ends—it’s not possible to cover everything, and terrorists know this.”

Witnesses reported hearing two loud bangs coming from the main foyer where the guests enter with their tickets, which, reportedly, was outside the secure zone of the arena.

Former deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush, James Norton, told Fox News that the arena was an “obvious soft target.”

“Soft targets are stadiums, airports, large gatherings—this shows the similar map that ISIS has followed,” Norton told Fox News. “This is the scary thing—the soft targets, the stadiums, have screening getting in, but there isn’t typically screening at the front end of the stadiums and the arenas –this could potentially be another attempt by them.”

Norton also noted the significance of the timing of this attack.

“The president traveling through the Middle East could be timed around this—his trip was well-broadcast in advance, and this could easily be a very well-planned attack,” Norton said.

Former member of the FBI National Joint Terrorism Task Force, Steve Rogers, agreed with Norton, and told Fox News that terrorist attacks are “well-planned.”

“We know that when terrorist attacks are planned, there is a certain reconnaissance—an individual looks for a time and place,” Rogers said. “This is almost certainly a terrorist attack--of course, we’re waiting for responsibility, but somebody within the next 48 hours will certainly claim responsibility.”

But deputy assistant to President Trump, Sebastian Gorka, said that the fatal blast in Manchester could be timed with the date of another fatal attack in the U.K. four years ago, underscoring the importance of “dates” to radical jihadists.

Gorka tweeted, “Manchester explosion happens on 4th anniversary of the public murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby. Dates matter to Jihadi terrorists.”

Rigby was the British Army soldier stabbed and hacked to death in London in 2013 by two Muslim converts. That attack also happened on May 22.
