I can't help but think of what could have been in 2011 with Bourdon plaing on our blue line. Taken way too soon.

I hear you. With Luc on our blue line I think we win the Cup in less than 7 games.

Some people say everything happens for a reason.   I'm still wondering why Luc was taken from his family/friends/fans so young?

You're still missed and always will be Luc.

He was speeding on his motorcycle.

Lots of people do this on a daily basis but get out unscathed. Bourdon wasn't so lucky. Just comes to show you that you shouldn't take things for granted.

Flashback 9 years I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. I was 22 years old. Had just started the job that I still hold today. Came home and around 5pm I heard the news.

I wasn't a hardcore fan like I am now, but Lucs tragic accident gave a bit of my soul to his cause and effect on the team during the coming years.

The accident was terrible in many ways, always think twice about motorcycles! That trucker feels.... hopeless, like many of his family and loved ones.

RIP Luc, sorry I couldn't get to know you.

You, have a strange heartless way about your demeanor. Screaming Jarhead

Sad that a lot of "fans" only seem to cherish Bourdon after his passing.  Lets not forget, the atmosphere was toxic when there's talk about Bourdon.  Just think of what all those naysayers are talking about Virtanen now.... but multiple it at least 10x.  Almost every trade proposal included LB as a filler.  So much outrage about how he's not dominating the AHL or why he wasn't with the Canucks.  How he has been surpassed by Edler and that he was just a #6 guy when he was with the Canucks.  Many posters kept making the remark "OmgZZZ K0pIt4R!!!111" or how Nonis should have drafted Marc Staal instead.

He's just speaking the truth, Red. Frankly, Luc's passing was sad and unfortunate, but it was avoidable and serves as a valuable lesson on the fragility of life and the scary repercussions of our foolhardy ways.

Luc comes to my mind every time I see a biker or cyclist riding with too much bravado, myself included, I remind myself I could die.

I've been on this forum before,  during and after the Bourdon era in Vancouver and don't have the same recollection as you at all.   Sure there were questions around him as a pick/player but to say it was 10x more intense than the Virt talk is just plain false imo.

I was devastated as a fan then,  and I still feel emotional about it now.   That's not even considering I'm a motorcycle rider myself for over 20 years.  For people to say it's a lesson in life,  that's fine and all but why him and not the 1000's of other riders that do ill advised things on their bikes all the time?
