J.I.A.H.N
Vancouver trades Tanev, 2017 - 5th OA, 55th OA and 112 OA for Colorado Trades Jost, 2017 - 4th OA, 32nd OA and 94th OA Well now, your wondering what the heck? Why do that? So, I think that Tanev is worth more than Jost.....to Colorado as well as to Vancouver. but I am not sure there is a huge difference, and the switch will help both teams build for the future. For Colorado, this gives them defensive stability and the ability to move Barrie for an offensive LHD, or a RWer, to go with MacKinnon, either way they are further ahead in their youth movement than we are and with the 5th pick, they will still have a great pick...... With Colorado Having MacKinnon, Duchene, and the emergence of 6'4" 212 lb 2015 1st rd pick Mikko Rantanen all at center.........Jost seems a little more expendable As for why Vancouver does this......switching of the picks are admittedly small moves, that gives us minor advantages over Colorado, ones that may or may not lead to anything.....but if Bennings wishes to get a player ahead of where he was, these minor changes may be all we need .....this goes for the 1st round pick, as well as the other picks........ Jost gives us a 2016-1st 10th OA, who has played with Broeser and had a good first year....this gives Vancouver two advantages that they do not have if they don't make the trade......first, they would have their potential 1st line Center....something that Colorado does not need, and secondly, the ability to pick any position, without fear of positional needs...... These are subtle moves, and ones that move us ahead with as much certainty that good prospect can provide......
J-Dizzle
All else aside, I think Colorado seems set on moving on from Duchene, in which case they keep Jost.

Which still leaves them with 2 very good centers in MacKinnon and Rantanen......who score 20 goals in his first year.......so much easier finding a 3rd line center, than a high end Dman........I think it puts Colorado in a much more balanced position, with a heck of a lot of options then they would if they didn't make the trade

He plays the wing. The trade makes no sense for them because Colorado is set on the right side, they need a left shot dman.

Would like to see Jost in a canucks jersey but i highly doubt that the Avs agree to that trade. MacKinnon, Rantanen, Jost = new Avs core
PunjabiCanucks
Not that familiar with Jost, but i'm not down to make a bunch of moves just to flip picks.

I like the idea of acquiring prospects that have past chemistry with our current prospects. I think this trade has too much draft pick movement and needs to be simplified. You think Tanev is worth more than Jost ....so why would the Avs give us all their low picks for our high picks ?
PunjabiCanucks
You know what I'd do it. We essentially get an A prospect for tanev, flip top picks, and move up a bunch in the 2nd round. Would like a little more but eeehhh :/
ReggieBush
Value is in the eye of the beholder. Jost has more value then Tanev for a rebuilding team like COL. If they were a perennial playoff contender and were trying to get over the hump they would likely make this trade. But they aren't
Adarsh Sant
Colorado could find a better return from many other teams for what they are offering. Plus, Tanev doesn't fit their needs at all. They have told us what they want. A young D man who can play the left side. Tanev is not that.
timberz21
I don't think a last place team should trade a top 10 pick, and move back in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round, just to pick up Tanev. Not really good asset management.

Sakic has repeated multiple times that this is the core they will be building around. He has also said that they are going to go young. If they are willing to move Tyson Barrie who is only 25 - there is no reason for them to want to add Tanev. He's just not the right age group. DinoTambo
I would do that in a heartbeat! Not sure Sakic and co would though. I wanted Jost last year, he's gonna be a star. And so to get him, move up to 4, & ALSO get the 32nd pk would be huge for the "rebuild".
