Hot on the heels of the California discovery that may show that humans were in America 130-150k years ago is another discovery in Morocco that definitely show that modern humans evolved on earth 100,000-150,000 years earlier than previously thought.

There's more, but here are a few snippets from the article:

Modern humans evolved much early than previously thought. New discoveries at a rich site in Morocco show modern humans were hunting and probably cooking game animals 300,000 years ago — 100,000 earlier than scientists have believed until now.

New discoveries and new dating methods show that in fact many of the bones belong to modern Homo sapiens, and they lived as far back as 300,000 or 350,000 years.

The earliest previous Homo sapiens bones date back 195,000 years ago and they’re from clear across the continent, in modern-day Ethiopia.

And this is probably just the absolute tip of the ice berg. There's probably a lot more to discover in our history. At any rate, I'm sure the Discovery network will spin this into a new 10 season long show about "ancient ______ theorists suggest"

But according to my hardcore Catholic Grandpa, the world is only 2000 years old, And dinosaurs never existed I have a strong faith as well but I'm sure humans created by God have been around even longer than that. 300thousand years is nothing

we don't know how many civilizations lay beneath our feet. regardless of what we believe, there is so much we don't know. i believe it is narrow minded to try and push history into what we believe to be right. none of us were around back then to be able to prove when man first walked upon the earth.

Very cool. Also very neat they found such a complete skeleton. IMO the biggest issue is with our overly simplistic and linear view of evolution. Humans didn't evolve in a straight line, there was constant offshoots and re-integrations of hominid species. At one point, we probably shared the Earth with various human-like and ape species. Pretty cool to think about.

You don't need to be around at a place or time and witness something in person to prove or to know it happened.

Pictures or it didn't happen. Of course, that shortens history considerably.

Humans and Neanderthals.  There is even evidence of cross breeding as Caucasians can have some Neanderthal DNA

All humans outside of Africa have 1% to 2% neanderthal dna.
