[Proposal] Can we make history at the draft and acquire 2 additional top 5 picks?

So we have the #5 pick and there is talk of Dallas moving the #3. So let's start there.

Dallas had a real down year last year, many had them pegged as a cup favourite before the season started. They failed miserably, not even getting close to making the playoffs. Now they have Bishop which by himself makes them look that much scarier, what could possibly make them look more scary? An elite shutdown defenceman,  AKA Chris Tanev. Now call me crazy but I believe Tanev is more valuable than a #3 in a weak draft class so we should also take on the Niemi contract and acquire another pick, possibly in next year's deep draft.

My proposal..

TO VAN

Niemi

#3

Nikushkin or a 2018 1st (becomes a 2nd if Dallas fails to make the playoffs)

TO DAL

Tanev

An elite Defensive Dman like Tanev will fetch a package like that especially now.

So now we have picks 3 and 5. Can we make a deal with a team that is looking to make the playoffs that may have interest in Edler? Hmm what about Philly? Lots of good young D and great offence. All they really lack is a veteran leader in their backend and a solid net minder.

My proposal.

TO VAN

#2

Cap dump

TO PHI

Edler (Retain some cap)

Markstrom

33rd OA

So now we have picks 2, 3, and 5.

#2 - Hischier (or NP)

#3 - Vilardi

No if we make the pick at 5 I want Makar, he has really high potential, could be the next Karlsson. However I kind of want to spice things up a bit.

TO TBL

#5

Baertschi

TO VAN

#14

Drouin

I think it's fair value wise but the question is will Tampa accept? Ill leave that to you guys to discuss. If we pull it off we draft Foote.

So with everything said and done our future looks pretty bright.

Next year's lines...

Drouin Horvat Boeser

Sedin Sedin Goldobin

Eriksson Sutter Granlund

Virtanen Gaunce Molino

Hutton Gudbranson

Juolevi Stecher

Pedan Subban

Miller

Bachman

Future lines...

Drouin Hischier Dahlen

Vilardi Horvat Boeser

Goldobin Gaudette Granlund

Virtanen Sutter Molino

Juolevi Foote

Tryamkin Stecher

Hutton Gudbranson

Demko

Garteig

No. I read that his "best case scenario" in The Hockey News was Erik Karlsson. No way. This kid is going to be good, but not the the next Erik Karlsson.

Acquire all the picks.

Hmmm, you may be on to something here.

It wouldn't matter when a player was picked, Benning should leave Patrick to the 7th round just to prove he could find late round gems.

So true. When people ask me who I cheer for I proudly tell them I am a suffering Canucks fan.

Things can only get better I hope or do they have to still yet worse yet?

Depends on ur definition of worse. At least we will be bad with a bright future in sight instead of a team suffering from nostalgia syndrom.

If I could make trades in real life that I do in ea we would be a dynasty every year for eternity

Care to explain why my trades don't seem realistic? The least realistic one would be for the #2. As TB is knowingly shopping Drouin or atleast open to a trade, and Dallas is on record saying they are willing to trade the #3. Tanev is a perfect fit for them on a VERY CHEAP contract with 3 YEARS REMAINING.. please explain

First, we need marky. If Demko pans out it won't be for another 3 years. People forget he was considered the best goalie not playing in the NHL b4 Florida screwed him up. Also your trade to Philly is terrible Would you take Edler A cash dump and marky for the 2nd overall pick? If it were up to you?

I would trade Tanev to TBL for point and their 14th. The 5th and Sutter 2 million retained and maybe another pick for JP and the 21st. And then 14 th to the Ducks who have literally zero choice but to trade Vats. #1 centre check. PPQB check. A chance at a ppg game winger check. Take Kostin with the 21st.

Edler is a Canuck till his contract runs out. He's made that clear.

Also, it's Edler OR Tanev. Trading both would be developmental suicide for our defense.

How many times must I say this After Garrison was traded Edler was asked if he would have waived? Short answer yes. At the tdl they asked him if he was asked to move? He said no. He was asked would he have? He said he would rather go in the offseason since he has a new family. If A team no longer wants you, and another team does, Its an obvious choice. Unless it is A place I would not want to raise A family. (I'm paraphrasing most of that, but you get the point,) If JB want's him, gone. Good chance he's gone.

So will people please stop saying something about A scenario that happened when Gillis literally gave him his NTC And then 2 weeks later after he bought A house asked him to waive it for Detroit. A city I would not want to raise A family.

I appreciate your optimism, but as much as those deals favor the Canucks, I'm not sure they favor the other teams. It's really hard to land a top three pick, let alone land TWO of them. There's no way realistically those trades will happen, and I honestly can't see Benning making those deals happen. IF it did, he should win GM of the year just for those deals. LMAO.

I have a feeling that if Vancouver wants to keep the 5th, that 3rd overall pick is going to cost them Tanev + 2 2nd round picks + a B level prospect (at least)

It's quite a hefty price to pay but I think management and ownership can sell having 2 Top 5 picks this year.

Hey EA made McDavid, Okposo, and Patrick Kane all Canucks.

EA can make Hunter Shinkaruk, Brendan Gaunce, and Nicklas Jensen all between 86 to 88 overall with Gaunce having a speed rating of 90

EA can make Virtanen an elite sniper

With EA anything is possible

Tanev  + 2 2nd round picks (33rd like a late first) + B level prospect ?

That's ridiculous, no GM would pay that much especially in this years draft.

If the stars want Tanev badly, they have to pay that high price otherwise we keep him. No way we give up that much for 3rd overall!

I highly doubt that Dallas is the only option Benning will have to move Tanev.

It's not a hefty price to pay, it's a ridiculous price, and JB will do that shortly after hell freezes over.

But it depends on how Dallas values the #3 pick and if there are other teams giving a better offer than Tanev + CBJ's 2nd Round
