VegasCanuck
If I missed another dedicated thread about this, my apologies. I did a search and couldn't find one. Have some questions about who exactly is exposed for the expansion draft on the Canucks and who isn't. I thought that we would have to expose Gudbranson because of age, but did we dodge a bullet because he was injured and only played in 30 games for the year? Was reviewing the CapFriendly site the other day and it looks like we have to expose 1 of the following 4 on D: Edler Tanev Sbisa Biega On forward, we can protect 7, but If I'm reading this right, on forward, we have to expose 1 of the following 8: H Sedin (NMC) D Sedin (NMC) Eriksson (NMC) Sutter Dorsett Baertschi Granlund Megna In Goal, I know we can only protect 1 and that's Markstrom and that was why we signed Bachman last summer, was to cover leaving someone exposed. HC20.0
We have to protect Gudbranson. Sbisa is the odd man out.

Rick Blight
I guess we are going to lose Horvat then. Funny, I was going to protect him.........

This is what I'm trying to figure out, it says above on the CapFriendly site: Players who meet or are projected to meet the exposure requirements are highlighted in green Now, there are only 8 or 9 Forwards on our team that are highlighted in Green. So, is Horvat exempt? If the worst that we have to expose at forward is Megna, I'm pretty good with that, but trying to figure out if this is at all accurate. Adarsh Sant
That is incorrect. Here is the full list. We have to protect Guddy and Horvat.

Each team has to meet a minimum exposure requirement - the players who meet those requirements are highlighted in green. At least 2Fs and 1D marked in green have to be left unprotected. The others don't meet the minimum exposure requirements but can still be selected by Vegas if they are left unprotected.

Then why list them as one of the guys that must be exposed? Btw, Boucher also falls into the category of a guy that could be lost.
MattJVD
I think you are getting confused between two sets of rules here: 1) there is a set of rules for who is eligable to be selected in the expansion draft @Adarsh Sant has the correct list. 2) there is a set of rules saying "of those players exposed, x number of forwards, and y number of defensemen must meet certain games played requirements." That is the list in the OP
VegasCanuck
From the NHL site: Protected Lists * Clubs will have two options for players they wish to protect in the Expansion Draft: a) Seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender * All players who have currently effective and continuing "No Movement" clauses at the time of the Expansion Draft (and who to decline to waive such clauses) must be protected (and will be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits). * All first- and second-year professionals, as well as all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits). So, that means that Horvat etc, would need to be protected, but the wording on CapFriendly was making it confusing and sounding like we didn't have to protect anyone that wasn't highlighted green. Try to look at it as who you will protect as opposed to who is going to be made available. The 1st column requires the Canucks to protect 7 of those players with three of them being the players with NMC's. Everyone else in that list will be exposed to the draft. The middle column calls for the Canucks to protect 3 of those players with everyone else exposed to the draft. The 3rd column column players are not eligible for the draft and do not have to be protected. https://www.capfriendly.com/expansion-draft

Vegas "should" be a pretty competitive team, right out of the gate with the rules the NHL has put in place. Should be a fun first season.
