So if you took that away he only has 2 PIM. Wasn't aware...I guess I have been following his Champion League stuff where he has been a little disturber at times and forgot those stats are separated. Guess Gretzky would have led that league in PIM if you get 10 mins for untucking.....
48MPHSlapShot
This thread makes me happy. Remember how many of us were upset about taking him and leaving guys like Glass/Vilardi on the board? Me neither. 2
Popular Post SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
17 points in his last 11 games (1.55 points/GP). 11 points in his last 6 games (1.83 points/GP). If Pettersson keeps up this kind of pace, he'll not only pass Peter Forsberg's U20 points/GP mark (1.23) but would actually have a chance at challenging Kent Nilsson's all time U20 points/GP record (1.50), which is one those records that people kind of never expected to see broken. And if he plays ~50 games (ie: close to the full season), he very likely will set a new SHL U20 record for total points (the current record is 54 points). Outside of U20 records, should he maintain his scoring pace (or close to it), he would have a legitimate shot at taking some serious hardware this season. He could very well be in the mix for the SHL scoring title, Årets Rookie (SHL rookie of the year), Håkan Loob Trophy (goalscoring), Guldhjälmen (MVP), and Guldpucken (Swedish player of the year). But regardless of where he finishes this season, I'd just be happy to see him develop into a comparable NHL player to those he's hanging with right now on the SHL all time U20 chart (Nilsson, Forsberg, Sedin, Sedin, Näslund, Bäckström, Gradin, Sandström, etc). I've seen a few articles. The Hockey News has a weekly hot prospects report. A few weeks ago they mentioned it would be redundant to put him in every week??? Here is some more; http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-prospect-elias-pettersson-sweden-2017 https://theathletic.com/116416/2017/10/03/elias-pettersson-has-bright-future-according-to-those-who-know-him-best/ Yeah, he's definitely getting his due in hockey prospects circles. The mainstream NA sporting press attention will come once he's actually playing games over here. Just look at Sweden right now. Pretty much whenever Pettersson scores a goal, he trends number one on Twitter over there for the next several hours.

48MPHSlapShot
How many goals has he scored in the last 10 or so games? Seems to me as though he went quite a while without any goals and then just exploded.

nowhereman
I have a feeling that, in a few years time, four NHL teams will be wondering how the hell they let Elias Petterson slip through their fingers... 1

In Swe-1 that would be impressive. But to do this in the SHL as a 19 year old? Just wow.

Wouldn’t world juniors though prevent him from playing that many games? One opportunity that could arise for him is if he doesn’t make the Olympic team, he’ll most likely be the best player in the SHL for those two weeks as all the really good players will probably be in the olympics. Might be a good opportunity for him to pad his stats? Edited November 16, 2017 by Canadian Clay
Gaudette Celly
Can see why some said he would have gone #1 if not for his slight frame, but still, there's wasn't that much hype about him before the draft. Some had him ranked well into the teens, one even 20th.

Might be a good opportunity for him to pad his stats? Didn't consider that wrinkle. Växjö has 4 games during the WJC and 1 game scheduled during the Olympics (when the league mostly shuts down). So he could miss 5 games. He's missed 1 already this season. So I guess he could still play 46 SHL games, if he also played at the WJC and Olympics. At his current season points/GP, over 46 games he'd actually tie Nilsson at 54 points. If he keeps up a similar rate to recent weeks, he'd probably finish the season with 60-70 points.
