Actually neither have done that with any Canuck this year; Guddy and Dorsett seem to have put a stop to that.  Once Jake, Gadjovich, and hopefully MacEwen get established they'll be full-on kittens, and won't then be able to stop Gaudette and Lind from punking Johnny and Boring either.

MacEwan is the one that intrigues me the most, I don't expect him to be a top 6 guy but he's making a quick adjustment to the AHL and looks very promising...

Benning's number one priority right now should be finding someone to play with Pettersson that will ensure he is not abused (or even touched) when he comes over here to play. Pettersson is going to be our Gretzky and Benning really needs to find our Semenko or I fear Elias will be injured more often than not. We cannot let this kid take the abuse the Sedins have endured over the years.

We need the guy that will stop Ferland (and Tkachuk) from running around trying to intimidate Elias.

I kinda agree with this point of view too.  There is a video on youtube showing how guys like Bolland abused the Sedins at will, nobody really did anything.  That was a few years ago and I still find it embarrassing.  It also angers me that the twins never really pushed back and that management did not address the situation.  They just took the abuse.

Intimidation is a big part of hockey.  Look at what happened in Detroit vs Calgary.  I think that whole thing unfolded because the previous time the teams played Brouwer took some liberties on Applekaider (cant spell his name) during a fight  and Detroit did not forget.  Next game they dressed Witkowski and he went after Ferland right away.  Ferland chickened out and Witkowski ran around the whole game.  When he fought Kulak he did not letup when the two went to the ice - he took liberties.  It was a clear message IMHO.

Best D+1 year in the draft? (So far)

Well Hischier is at 14p in 18 games, in the NHL of course, and I value NHL production over all else, but EP is doing some stunning things in Sweden. So close between them Those two are miles ahead of everyone else I can think of right now.

Edit: Sorry, Heiskanen is right up there as well. See Sid for some mind-blowing stats regarding what kind of season he's having

I'd be happy with that

I think Edmonton is going to trade for him, they have tons of cap space and need scoring, and Kane's the best upcoming UFA on the board.

But you never know, we may get him in free agency. Pettersson will need someone like this on his line. Despite what others are saying players still need "protection".

Yeah true... I'll still take EP though. Hischier seemed rushed if I can be completely honest but that's a totally seperate conversation.

I don't think he finishes the season in Buffalo that's for sure, but if he makes it to FA I think Vancouver would have an inside track.

Although I do think Edmonton would be one of the few teams he may re sign with if he gets moved there. Even though they've promised playing with Connor to about 9 wingers now.

This year, but look at their cap situation next year -- $61.4 million in just 14 contracts, projecting $13mil of space for 9 contracts.  Benning, Nurse, Strome, Slepyshev, and Caggiula as RFAs, Maroon and Letestu UFAs making close to $2mil each.  They don't exactly have many NHL-level prospects on ELC contracts, so what'll they do, sign a bunch of NHL minimum scrubs?

Again -- I'd love to see Edmonton trade for him, bleed some (more) assets, then we sign him as UFA.

We've got Gadjovich, Labate, MacEwan who i've been really high on since we've signed him last year, and to some extent Lind (although he's more of a pest). Gaudette has some Ryan Kesler in him with his douchebag cele's and cockiness in some of the college games I've watched. Virtanen's no pushover either.

This also angered me too. Sedins never had any kind of pushback and let themselves be punching bags to other teams. This identity must and will change once they leave.

Now, we just need that elite dman

Wouldn't mind a guy like Ryan Merkley, right handed PPQB, minute munching defenseman who's over a PPG this year and dominated the league as a 16 year old defenseman last year and is one of the youngest players in the draft.

yup right now my money's on that. Buffalo is in a good situation, there are a lot of teams that will want Kane as a rental but be wary of him long term. The question for Edmonton is how long do you wait?

By the look of it EP might be ready before Gadjovich, but if Jake can learn to get more physical again then we may not need to break the bank on Evander either.
