I guess I just hold some reservation until he get his chance and shows what he can do. The potential is there, but he's not actually there yet.

Cautious optimism like this is definitely warranted.  He was good but not spectacular at the WJC-U20.  Forsberg didn't join the NHL until two years after he set that U20 mark.  The Sedin's joined the NHL pretty quickly, but struggled a bit at first with the physicality of it.  On the plus side, it's a younger faster league now that is more to Pettersson's style.  I'm pumped about the possibilities, but realistic about the probabilities.

Probably because he hasn't played a single game in the NHL?

I think you're taking my comments the wrong way. I have no doubt that EP has the skills to be an elite NHL player. I'm simply saying that he will need to gain some substantial size in order to live up to his fullest potential in the league like the Sedins did. If the Twins stayed the size they were when they entered the league, I doubt they would have been as effective for so long. I'm not saying anything new here.

I think it's completely possible that he steps into the league next year and rips it up. I just think it's more likely that he struggles a little until he gains some much-needed size.

Typo, how can you not want to see what the kid can do in the NHL?

I don’t think EP will give us the option to wait.  What will he have to prove in the SEL next year?  He isn’t going to ride a bus in the AHL either.  So we have a prospect that’s already too good for the SEL and AHL, so how do we hold him back?  It’s not like we have really talented guys standing in his way.

Put him on the ice at training camp and no way he doesn’t make the team.  I want him to be bigger too, but his skill and IQ is off the charts good and I am sure that he will add size with the proper coaching.

The Nilsson record has stood since the 80’s. It is considered unbeatable, so if EP does crack it, it would be the stuff of legend in sweden.

ah thats a very good point. I was just thinking of it in terms of players that we could have a more direct comparison with.

if he can rack up 9 points, he ties nilsson in the same # of games!

I don’t think he’s going to get 9 points in one game!!?  But I can definitely see him getting 9 points in his last 9 games to at least tie the record, but with 8 more games played!  I personally think he’s going to get 10+ points to beat the all time record.  You know he’s probably got that in the back of his mind, and is probably extra motivated to set the record!  Let’s go EP

Sometimes you can watch it on the champions hockey league website

Last game the link was available, but it said it 'wasn't available in my area'

Hopefully it works out for you
