Based on what exactly? pitts has not missed the playoffs since they drafted him. He has been A playoff performer since the start and has always made the players around him better. I like Connor but he has not earned the right to be compared to those greats. And id is pissed if I was Sid or Wayne or Mario. They put in their dues WTF has Connor done at an nhl level except for regress since the playoffs. Facts are facts. I hope one day he gets their but he isnt there yet Small sample size but just thought I would show you what I think makes A real gen player Sid in his rookie year, averaged in the playoffs 1.00 PPg. His best 1.56. during the reg season which BTW they have made the playoffs every single year. Anyway, his PPg average is 1.30PPG his best 1.66 Connor reg season in A non-dead puck era 1.17. Playoffs 0.69. Hank and Dank have better overall PPg does that make them gen? Obviously no it just makes them elite, just like Connor is. Like I said I'm not bashing him only showing facts. Who knows if he can get out of that cesspool called deadmonton he may become generational yet

Try to format this as a Jeff Foxworthy joke. If you win a Hart trophy by the time you're 20 years old... you might be a generational prospect

His speed and his skill make him a generational player, don't knock him because of his supporting cast.

It was more that you said he was 6'2 before drafted grew 12" and is still 6'2...

(If he grew 12" I think he'd be 6'3?)...

Anyway never mind bud. It was not to be pedantic... :)

He grew 12" in another area. Lol

You described Kane perfectly for his USHL and CHL time as he often just waited for a puck to work free and then he would pounce.   He avoided the heavy traffic very well and translated that into the NHL.

My concern with EP is the Canuck rep for tolerating cheap shots on their players. The shot Granlund took a couple of games ago is a case in point. If EP plays in Vancouver I want a solid forward like Archibald on the roster as well.

That rep exists in minds of some Canuck fans and media but isn't seen that way around the league.   Never hear that, for example, here in Ontario where the rep the Canucks currently have is a team to be concerned about in the next few years as everywhere one looks one of your prospects is doing something of note.

Really?? That's kinda nice! Though I now have mental images of CDC'ers as mother hens with their profile pics as heads, strutting about proudly upon hearing that news.

I never said he won't be3. he just isn't right now. As for supporting cast, didn't Sid turn Kunitz who had about as much skill as Hanson into A friggin Olympic player? See that's my point Gen players have the ability to make ordinary plugs look like stars. In my humble opinion Cheers and thanks for not resorting to typical petty stuff so often found on here when one disagrees. If your mom is in the same grade as your girlfriend you might be A redneck.Gotta love Jeff funny as hell yet never ever swears and is A devout Christian.

I am pretty sure many of the posters on CDC are not actually Canuck fans as the amount of contrived negative material about every possible issue doesn't come from being a fan.

I think they're genuinely fans, they just come out of the self loathing sub section of fandom

Sorry but Kunitz had much better hands and offensive skills compared to the Great Dane. I see your point though

Fair point. I used Hanson because according to pens fans he had hands like stone. something I have heard used when talking about the Honey Badger.

Connor McDavid is generational.  He's been in the NHL, 2.5 seasons and you're complaining he hasn't won as many cups as Sid?  Sid was generational when he entered the league and so is McDavid.  End of story.

Winning a cup was only A small part of my post if your going to disagree that's all good. We are all entitled to our opinion. My overall point was it is concerning how he wasn't able to elevate his game in the playoffs like generational players do. And the fact that last year he led the league in scoring this year he is 10th. and this trend started in April and combined with his miserable playoffs and the fact that he hasn't taken any steps forward this year is concerning. I was only speaking facts. Sorry, I don't buy into the hype that is media driven by guys like Mark spectre.  Will he turn it around and prove me wrong? most likely. My point was Sid did it from game 1 and hasn't let up. that to me is A generational player. I just want you or someone else to lay out real facts as to why he is generational at this point. And sorry speed doesn't make you generational. carrying your team on your back does. Whats the Oilers record this year? Is it worse than last year with the exact same team? I dunno I guess we have different criteria for what makes someone so special they only come around once every 10 to 15 years. Lo0ve the debate cheers.

...What's a fact...?   that he is 6' 2" ?....that he is 165 Lbs. ?  That he relies on his puck skills ?   And then you want to coach that out of him.....

I am very tempted to use a facepalm here....

Calm yourself Rollieo I was referring to the defensive frailties mentioned in the post I was replying to. No one is talking about changing the way he plays other than that - and it wouldn't do him any good as I said to become another Goldy would it.
