EP is not going to "muscle up" playing another year in Sweden. In fact, if that's the goal then we'll just loan him to the Iron League for a while. He'll come back hard as a rock, ready to throw down against anyone. Ripped and #tuffasnails. fair enough. Just don't see how it hurts his development. I'd prefer him to begin in Utica for a small number of games to get used to ice size, player size, harder hits, etc. but either way I'm fine. He's got to be worth that mythical 3rd rounder we keep missing out on. The draft lead up should be interesting. I know you were being sarcastic but Baer should be worth a late 1st or a good couple 2nd's or a 2nd and a prospect etc I'd wager. Package him with one of our excessive left D and the return could be even higher. Move Tanev as well and you nail down quite a few futures IMO. EP will be challenging for the Calder...same as Boeser this year...why would he or Canuck management ...not want that to happen...? EP or Dahlin for the Calder next year...maybe we finally luck out and have them both...!!! ....50 years Bettman....50 years...throw us a fricking bone if we can't have the Cup...

I dunno... he's actually been very consistent in his production, he's 15-18 goals, 28-35 points almost guaranteed. Doesn't that put him in the category of 3rd liner, marginal 2nd? I'd prefer a prospect back but 2019 picks would be nice too. Edited March 2, 2018 by Jimmy McGill

IIRC, his P/60 is (or at least was) borderline 1st/2nd line rate. He was worth a 2nd as a struggling prospect when we acquired him. He's now proven he can produce (in a complimentary role) at a roughly 50 point pace on a bad team. Put him on a good team 2nd line (who need a LW'er) and I think he does pretty well IMO. I think a contender easily pays a late 1st for a guy, in his prime, they can plug in now vs gambling on a guy who might have that same ceiling and is likely 3+ years away. Who needs a 2LW out there? EP has to play where his talent level is at....which is NHL level, without a doubt in anyone's mind. Elias has 7 months to gain the 7 pounds of muscle that I think he needs to "play safe" in any men's league...the AHL is every bit as rough and tumble as the NHL...but with more goon's and less brains...so bad things can happen down there just as easy. It is almost like saying McJesus should have started in the AHL to get used to the speed...makes me chuckle... It is going to be a blast watching all these kids push the Dowd's and Gagner's out of the lineup...

I don't see why its unreasonable for EP to learn the differences in ice size outside of the Vancouver spotlight, at least for a few games.

That 2nd round pick was a pretty high price at the time of the trade, but in hindsight, it was good value. I don't think you get a first back for him, but something like a 2nd and a 4th or 5th would be pretty good value back for him.

It just isn't going to happen...management will not give up the money from the extra seat's he will fill...it's really as simple as that. Why keep a 80 point rookie down and loose out on 1000 seats per game he is down...maybe 2000...! ...and yes if he plays 80 games he will get as many points...@! Bang on! It will be a EP, management and coaching decision. Management thought it was OK for Joulevi to spend a year in Finland when I thought the Knights were the best option and Finland was the better decision. Nothing wrong with another year in the SHL if that is what is decided. EP is said to be 6' 2" and 165 pounds. Was that at the beginning of the year and did he put weight on during the season? IMHO he should be 175 pounds to play NHL at a minimum. At that weight they had better play him with Archibald and Virtanen for protection. Just look at how they are going after Boeser now.
