Popular Post cory40
With the current line up and a couple new faces, the Canucks are starting to look good, I laugh at all the media talking about replacing the Sedins number's. And for the record other players will get their prime time minutes and power play time. That being said the Sedins and Edler would have had better numbers if they didn't ignore Brock on the power play. Edler's numbers will go up. Elias makes the Canucks more dangerous because he is like Daniel and Henrick in one player. Expect the Canucks to have a surprise team this year with lots of growing pains. Might take them a while to figure out how good they can be. If Huges makes the team add the overtime magic favoring the Canucks for once.

This is what happened to Kucherov and he has taken off. If Pettersson is in the AHL for the full year, then he likely isn't too dominant. I agree with your sentiment that we need to build a strong AHL team as a legitimate farm system to feed the big club, but it's hard to see someone like Pettersson stay there too long when he has already dominated a men's league in Sweden. I won't be disappointed if he starts the year in the AHL and even get a fair share of games, but he's the most likely player to transition early and it'll likely be as a winger to Sutter, who is a good support veteran for him to get into the NHL game (not a long term solution). It'll be interesting to see how long it'll take for Pettersson to eventually get to center, but Sutter has shown that he can play wing as well, so it could be a good tandem to get Pettersson some starts there at the NHL level. If Pettersson is dominating the NHL their will be no need for him to go and dominate the AHL. He never see's the AHL, and doesn't want to ever see it. He is a generational player and will look like one from the start.

Popular Post Nucker 67
I agree, maybe some of the GMs never gave Pettersson the consideration he deserved and passed on him. The Canucks look at what the draft picks will become, and they saw something special in Elias. I'm so glad they took him at #5. I'm excited for Hughes the same way. Yes, he is a little small, but he will grow and develop into one of the leagues best D in a few years. It feels like the Canucks are on the verge of dong something great. Great goaltending - Demko, DiPietro Offensive D - Hughes, Rathbone, Stecher (I still think he can take another step) Defensive D - Juolevi, Gudbranson, Brisebois, Woo, Chatfield Skill and finesse - Boeser, Pettersson, Goldobin Speed, grit and skill - Horvat, Virtanen, Gaudette, Leipsic, Dahlen, Lind, Palmu, Gadjovich, Lockwood

Chicken.
For some reason I didn't think Pettersson was playing in the young stars tourney ? But I keep seeing him advertised with it on Canucks official instagram posts

Maybe it was just prospect development camp that he was skipping?

Well let's hope this is the case, but let's see how he looks in preseason first. There are very few "generational" players that aren't taken 1st overall.

IMO Crosby and Ovechkin are the only two generational players in the league. Not Tavares, not Karlsson, not Malkin, not Kopitar. I guess McDavid is making a case for himself now too.

Tre Mac
Still hope he's goes with #40 instead of 14. EP40 has a nice ring to it, and from the sigs I saw he uses that number in it as well. 1

That's disrespectful to Burrows.
