Could just be the photo but he looks a little thinker in the neck.

I have been one of those who are sick and tired of all the weight obsession about some of these kids....but I have to admit you have a point but, then again, there is no freakin' way his neck could have looked thinner without becoming a drawing of a Canadian on South Park.

I really doubt anyone will touch number 14 for awhile. That's disrespectful to Burrows.

Although if he goes with 14, there’s a very good chance it might hang in the rafters one day. Win, win ;)

This term gets way too overused and this is a perfect example. Every generation should only have one..maybe two generational talents. Every superstar is not considered a generational talent.

I agree 100% and I am saying he will be way better than you think. And that means he will be the type of player that comes along well lets say since Peter Forsberg. In fact the records he broke have stood since then. So untie your complaints about Elias being generational and get used to it.

GENERATIONAL!!!!!

Yeh we Canuck fans use it way too much as we look forward to our first generational player who has shattered records on his way here. What is going to really bother the other teams fans is Pick #5.

All of Sweden expect great things from him. He is the most complete forward prospect in hockey and has a full tool box. If you are in doubt go to Twitter and watch his video's since the last prospects camp. He has more highlight goals assists and shots than many top tier players get in a decade.  And he was doing it all against men.

U really wanted us to read this hey

His problem wasn't labelling him generational it was the over-use of the term generational.

By definition this should be used for a player, maybe two that is head and shoulders above the rest, for sports it would usually be about once every 10 years (as opposed to 20 in regular life).

Gretzky, Mario, Orr, Bossey, Howe, Crosby are generational players and there is probably a handful more in the past.  McDavid may become one but isn't yet.

Every good player or prospect that comes along is hardly generational and frankly it should be a judgement made at the end of someones career not at the draft.

Generational prospect I would be willing to give more liberally.  A lot more of those come along.  Lindros is a great picture of a generational prospect that for various reasons didn't turn into a generational player, hall of famer yes but not generational.

This article lists Pettersson has having the potential to have a Calder Trophy caliber season. He's also ranked 191st on NHL.com's fantasy top 250 list. Dahlin, Svechnikov and Zadina are the only ones we are ranked higher and Hughes is ranked one spot lower.
