Not sure how you'd have Gaudette on the PP over Gagner, and think that with a straight face. Gagner is as one dimensional as it gets but if you think he isn't a superior offensive option to Gaudette right now I really don't know what to tell you. Gagner on a good team had 50 points, on our garbage team had 31. Gaudette had 0 points in 5 games and in none of those 5 games would I say he was a threat to score once. We don't need to throw Gaudette into every situation all at once, his best assets are his two way game. Give him the Bo treatment. Bo started on the 4th line, then worked his way up. Gaudette has done nothing in his career to deserve Powerplay looks before guys like Gagner, Eriksson, Baer or even Virtanen, nor is scoring the thing he is best at anyway.

Gagme was a good part of the reason we turned into a garbage team after Xmas last year....

I will be pleasantly surprised if he get's anywhere near 50 points again unless he plays the whole year with EP and BB...but Bo would get 70-80 points playing with those 2....

Maybe because Gagner isn't a superior offensive option to anyone.

This just makes the Virtanen pick look that much worse.  We should have Nylander + Glass but instead we have Petterson + Virtanen

Petterson prolly score more points then Nylander will have... he gets to prove himself, hopefully this season!!! Can hockey please begin:)

I agree completely, but Pettersson in his scenario should be compared to Glass, not Nylander. Nylander would be compared to Virtanen and unfortunately so far it looks like the Leafs made the better pick.

Based on history, I don't think Pettersson will win the calder, but he could end up being a better overall player then whoever wins the calder in the following seasons. He has a history of starting slow then adapting to the league he's playing in. Whether that is only the first 10 games, or whether its the whole season remains to be seen.

Nice try.  Wee Willie, the double flamingo pretty boy, who doesn’t go into corners is a joke for a hockey player.  I say the Leafs have been trying to trade Little Willie Smurf Boy for two years, and have no takers.  Jake is a friggin’ beast!  He’s going to make the Lovers if Wee Willie crawl back to their Loser Leaf Boards.

That may be the case in your whimsical "Canucks can do no wrong, every draft pick we make is the best" fantasy land.

But let's come back to earth and speak in reality for a second.

Nylander  185 career games played - 48G 87A 135P

Virtanen   140 career games played - 17G 17A   34P

There's not a GM in the league that wouldn't trade Virtanen for "Little Willy" straight up.

Stop with the delusional homerism.

I kind of have the feeling that's how it's going to go. Pettersson will start out somewhat slow....say, 7 or 8 points in his first 20 or so games....but as the season progresses, he'll steadily get better and more productive, finishing the season with about 50 points and performing at something like a .8 PPG clip to end the season. Possibly good enough for a Calder nod, but not for the win.

This is exactly why there are not takers for Wee Willie.  Guy is Charmin soft, and selfish.  No team can win with a guy like this, who will not sacrifice for his teammates.  He’s worth nothing.
