IMO Gads has the ability to

be an ideal winger for a smaller

elite center. Ala Holmstrom.  I see him being a top six guy who can be a net presence and deterrent. His hand eye coordination and abilty to score in close is very good. If his skating progress seen in the prospects camp continues I see a lot of upside to him.

As for JV, IMO he needs to play with skilled guys to take advantage of his abilities. Someone like J. Hughes or Pettersson as center would be IMO a good mix 5v5.

Added bonus the two meat

and potatoes wingers will help keep the moron players from running their center.

I hope you're right about gadj.. would be fantastic if he turned out like hornqvist, who was a later draft that found his way to a very useful career

If we got hughes and all our prospects turned out and make up our line up at some time that would be epic...

so my stab:

Dahlen-Hughes-EP40

Virtanen-Horvat-Boeser

Gadjovich-Gaudette-Lind

Palmu/Jasek-Madden-Lockwood

Would love to see palmu make the squad at some point would be a good story and I like his playing style!

Theoretically this line up would be nuts

love the first 3 lines.. 4th line I'd assume would look a bit different

theoretically this could be a very expensive team in about 5 years though

Has Elias arrived in Vancouver yet? Wasn't he supposed to come to Vancouver today? Over the weekend they replayed the Sweden vs Canada (WJC) game from early 2018. Watched Pettersson, such a smart player, always knows where to be. Even made some great defensive plays. As much as I would love a Dahlen - Pettersson - Boeser line, it might be a year or two before we see that. I think Elias will start on the 2nd line:  Eriksson - Gagner - Pettersson.

If you want to kill Virtanen's career, make that a line.

lol, Jake almost killed his own career a couple of years ago, but I think he'll be fine. If he did work on his hands like he was supposed to, he may come back as a better player who should be in the Top 6. I also wonder where Leipsic will fit in. Some are saying he should be on the top line with Bo and Boeser. It's going to be interesting to see the opening lineup.

Baertschi Petersson Eriksson

im 90% sure this will get a good look.

That leaves Goldobin, Leipsic, etc to battle for the spot beside Bo and Boeser.

They dont like Virtanen on the LW either.

I'd like to see that line as well, but I think EP may need an adjustment period before he can take on the C position.

Beagle was signed to be a checking line C, as well as a PK specialist, which entails +++ d-zone minutes.  I don't think EP ever plays on that line, although I wouldn't mind seeing Roussel play on the 2nd line with him (if EP is playing C).

I agree with your summation in the last sentence.

i hope you are right about no "4th line" time for EP....but if Green decides to start him on wing the only choice that make sense is with Bo and Brock....but that puts him right into the fire ...which is fine with me but not so much for Greener...

That leaves playing with Gagner, Sutter or Beagle....and to me Sutter is going to be the shutdown line so he doesn't fit there...Gagner is so soft, even with Rousell on that line it doesn't turn my crank...I think Beagle may still be the starting point for EP, i just hope it isn't for to long.

I'm not sure that I would looking at those options for line combinations during the regular season. While the players you picked may have the desired skill sets, both lines lack a physical presence to keep the other teams from taking liberties. I have Granlund slotted as a 2nd line C option with Pettersson on RW and Roussel as the LW. My reasoning for putting Roussel up on that line was two fold: one, he will provide muscle on that line and two; he will provide a net presence that may beneficial as both Pettersson and Granlund are more suited as the play makers.

If I remember correctly Benning actually said that Beagle would take majority of the defensive load from Sutter so he could take more offensive role this season. Eriksson Sutter Petterson as a second line wouldnt be too bad for Elias I think... Sutt and Loui would cover mistakes he WILL make.

I think the shutdown line will be something like Roussel Beagle Virtanen.

Green has stated that he wants Beagle to take the defensive zone load of Sutter, which would mean he'll C a checking line.  I don't know if that means he wants to put Sutter with EP though.  We could see and Eriksson/Baer  Sutter  EP line I guess.

There is also Granlund as C, but he is kind of soft as well.  He is far better defensively than Gags, but not the greatest player at C.  The softness doesn't matter as much if Guddy is riding shotgun on D.  Maybe see an Edler Guddy pairing when EP is on the ice.

I liked Granlund with Sutter and I think Jake could fit on that line as well...so that would give us 2 shutdown lines...

Granlund / Sutter / Virtanen

Rousell / Beagle /  Shaller or Eriksson

leaving us with a top 6 of;

Baer / Bo / BB

Goldy / Gaudette or Schaller / Ep

Gagner or liepsic as the 13th forward....if Schaller is still injured to start the season then one of Gagner or Liepsic gets to play.

I really hope to see Virtanen on a line where he can score. He has spent the summer developing his shot, so hopefully he gets a chance to see if his hard work has paid off.

The line of Leipsic, Gaudette and Virtanen looked pretty good in the last few games of the past season and I would love to see Travis have a long look at that line combo in the preseason. If Virtanen's stick and hand work in the off season pays off; this could be a surprisingly effective energy line that is also capable of chipping in perhaps more than just a few goals. The other line combo I would like to see in preseason would be Eriksson, Gagner and Pettersson or Eriksson, Granlund and Pettersson.

I might be one of the few people here that doesn't see Granlund being a part of the core going forward. He missed another 30 or so games last year, only managing 12 points. He's never played close to a full season yet in his career. His most was 69 games in 2016/17.

With prospects like Pettersson, Gaudette, Dahlen, Lind and Gadjovich, and young players like Leipsic and Goldobin close to making this team, where does that leave players like Gagner, Baertschi and Granlund? I think they're all gone by season's end or sooner.
