I’d be surprised if JB actually buries his new contracts in the minors if they are outplayed.

Yes. That's why Gagner is still here. As much as we bash Eriksson, if it wasn't for his contract, we would be ok because he at least makes the team better. Just not his contract worth.

I really like the idea of JV with EP40. Eriksson needs someone to gel with. I would think this line will get some looks in pre season.

If JV and EP40 can gain some chemistry... Good times.

To be honest, I think the opening roster is going to be really hard to figure out. There are so many possibilities. Combine that with Benning clearly stating he's willing to bury contracts in the minors.

Outside of maybe the first line and a couple of spots here and there, it's essentially throwing meat into a pack of hyenas. lol

I'm picturing Green in the room before game 1.. pulling names out of a hat and calling them out

VIrtanen Horvat Petterson
Granlund Sutter Boeser
Baerstchi Roussel Eriksson
Schaller Beagle Leipsec

I think those lines are a lot more balanced than they look.

Roussel is a winger..

1. Leipsic -  Bo - Boser  ( Goldobin ) will get  a good look in top 6 for first 20 games.

2.Pettersson - Sutter - Jake

3. Beartchi - Grandlund - Erickson

4.Schaller - Beagle - Roussel

Goldobin, Gagner extra players.. I really thing Gaudette and Dahlen are going to have great training camp and make it hard for management to send them down..

Balls, for some reason I thought Roussel could play centre

Green is likely to keep Baer Bo and Brock together.  Line already has chemistry.

Sutter with JV and EP40... WCE version 2.0 is definitely worth a look. It would also allow JV some left wing time and give EP40 time to work his way into center as he and Sutter can both play right wing.

Rousell Gagner and Eriksson. Blended line of vets with two way wingers.

Gaunce/Granlund Beagle Schaler

Extras Goldy and Lepsic and Gaunce.

Someone will be hurt.

Another combo could be Eriksson Gagner Goldy as a trial second line. In theory it could work.

JV Sutter EP40 as a third line.

Rousell Beagle Schaller as the 4th.

I assumed you had ideas on this, which is why you made the prediction. Wanted to know the ins and outs of what you were thinking. Oh well. Just spitballing is all good too.

They were just in other posts. See below

But I would bet on Leipsic (being the guy waived?)

more injuries will usually limit any further fallout

in a a perfect world we find a trade

My projected lineup...  prediction, not want.

Baertschi Horvat Boeser

Eriksson Sutter Pettersson

Roussel Beagle Virtanen

Leipsic Gagner Schaller

Goldobin

edler stecher

Pouliot tanev

MDZ Gudbranson

Biega

Hutton

waived:

Gaunce (mostly cause I think he’s least likely to be picked up between him Leipsic, and Hutton)

Goldy gets traded or stays on the roster.

I foresee this group for the first month of horrific scheduling....  then we see some inevitable injuries and call ups.

nice thing about this year is we WILL see Dahlen, Gaudette, Lind, Demko, Juolevi et all at some point guaranteed.

Regardless of whom makes the opening night team, it’ll be an interesting season.

We 'll is almost time. We have hashed the players and bragged and blogged, and soon all will be told in a 82 game sheldule. I am stoked to see 609 pages of a prospect yet to play a NHL game. If I am right we make the play-offs and Elias wins the Calder, if I am wrong we are a lotto shoot for Hughes lil Brother. Juolevi only being 6 or 7 months older than Elias makes him a stud defensive prospect that we get this year at the beginning or sometime after the injury bug goes off. I have had some awesome banter back and forth and really enjoy all your view points as well as opinions. Kind of reminds me of journalism were if their dead wrong they bury it, and if they are wright they rub it in, Look forward to young stars next week, My sweet wife bought me a weekend pass WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOOOO. Gives Elias a little time  to start at center before camp. Game On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to be a interesting training camp with so many young prospect..

Pettersson will make the Canucks, Dahlen and Gaudette will be close to making the team..

Comets roster filled with several Canuck rookies, Dahlen, Gaudette, Lind, Jasek, Gadjovich, Palmu, Juolevi..

In my mind Goldy needs a shot in the top 6 to start the year

This is what I think the lineup will be

Baer-Bo-Boeser

Goldy-Sutter-Virtanen

Eriksson-Beagle-Pettersson

Roussel-Gagner-Schaller

Leipsic

What Id like the lineup to look like

Goldy-Bo-Boeser

Leipsic-Pettersson-Virtanen

Baertschi-Beagle-Granlund

Roussel-Sutter-Eriksson

Schaller

Gagner traded. Gaunce waived.

Think we'll get a good picture at the young star tournament, whether they will star Pettersson at centre. Think he'll start on the wing.

Yeah I think your right. Jake's speed and physicality might just make the opposing team focus less on hitting Pettersson and more focused on keeping an eye with Virtanen is lol.

I've longed to see 18 & 41 just as I have with Dahlen and Horvat. I think those 2 could have some real chemistry based on how they play. I am just happy hockey is weeks away not months anymore.

If Goldy does make the team, I'd like to see a Goldobin-Gaudette-Virtanen line.  Nik and Jake looked good together last year, as did Jake and Adam.  Goldy gives them a complementary addition of playmaking ability to go with their speed, grit, and shooting.

From the 31 in 31 on the NHL website - top prospects for the Vancouver Canucks:

Canucks general manager Jim Benning said the possibility of Pettersson being ready to play center slowed Vancouver's pursuit of a second-line center in free agency this offseason.

"We drafted him as a center and he has the skill to do it, maybe right off the hop," Benning said. "We want to look at him in the middle at training camp and see where he is at."

Agreed.  I think the first line is set with Baer, Bo, and Boeser.

The match-up centres will be Sutter and Beagle.  Any D zone draws they don’t take, Bo will.  Pettersson could play in an offensive centre role for sure.

Baer-Horvat-Boeser were broken up in November once Goldobin got recalled and Green never really re-united them.  I think Baer is more likely to play with Pettersson and that it's Goldobin or Leipsic with Horvat-Boeser.
