Important enough to spread that garbage around the internet?

Let's ruin this guy's reputation so Petey can win the trophy. Because that's what a true athlete would want, to win something by default

Political correctness, social justice and people being offended over almost anything nowadays.  People like nucker are a part of the problem.

Good for you

The irony here is how you are pretty much being no different here: getting offended by the offended apparently doesn't fall into this category? (And if you weren't offended you wouldn't be posting in the first place)

You crack me up at times 5th. lol

UBC has a study going on right now. They have a new drug that builds muscle at a rate of 12 times the normal biogenic rate.

I suggest we send a few of our players there this summer. By Sept. in training camp we could have the following:

1. Petey: 6'2"  217 lbs

2. Tony Stretcher: 5'10" 213

3. Hughes: 5'10" 198

4. Virtanen: 6'1" 249

5. Boeser: 6'1" 219

6. Horvat: 6'0" 253

7. Tryamkin: 6'7" 315...BOOM

REBUILD OVER!!!

Try to stand in the way of tryamkin after he had 2 minutes of doing laps to get his speed up! :emot-parrot:

Could you imagine if Pettersson puts four months of hard work in and comes into camp between 185-190lbs? His skill and speed, at 6’2” 190 would be absolutely incredible. For comparison, Bure did what he did at 187lbs, and Pettersson is four inches taller than him.

It may take a while for the body to get accustomed to the weight change.  Gaining that much muscle may mean he loses some of his shiftiness and speed for a little while.

As blasphemous as it sounds, sometimes I wonder if it would be better to shift Pettersson to be a winger.  He's already one of the quickest player in the league... him being sprung loose with his level of stickhandling, shot and playmaking ability....

Seems to me that a real old school comparable for Petey is Jean Ratelle.  21 years with the Rangers and Bruins. 1281 games 1267 points. Very cerebral player. 6 foot 1 and 175 pounds. Played through a tough time in the league. HOF career.

If Petey can become this it will be incredible for the Canucks. True number 1C. Cerebral great playmaker and provides 20 years of service by learning to be durable like a similar sized Ratelle.  Hmm. I know most on here never saw him play but Jean is actually a great guy for Petey to emulate. Solid foundation for the nux for many years to come.

Love the reference to the old days. I never saw him play, but I know the name as a Ranger's legend.

Gilbert-Ratelle-Hadfield. #1 line in the NHL one year I believe.

Since we are talking old time comparables I will throw JC Trembley out for Hughes. Never understood why players dropped the old alley opp shot that Trembley did. He used to get 2 -  3goalds a year by flipping the puck way high and have it drop infront of the goal tender. Bad bouce and it was in.

The GAG line, right? If I recall reading, it stood for the "Goal-a-game" line and were called the "TAG" line if they were hot (Two goals).

Regarding the Trembley play, I'd imagine that the butterfly style of play probably killed that play since netminders became so much strong on the low parts of the net once they adopted that style. Still Trembley was around long before Roy and the butterfly, so I'm not sure what the reason was up until the mid 80s.

So you think the only reason for Pettersson's slump is because goldobin was taken off that line? Not his shooting percentage coming back down to earth? Not the schedule grinding him down?

Funny how he produced less on the PP as well. Is goldobin the cause for that too even though he never really played pp1?

Also do you insult everyone who disagrees with you?

Pettersson's slump is really easy to understand. He's not used to such a long and grueling schedule and playing with the best players in the world night in and night out. Other teams are more dialed in for the playoffs and are running a playbook on him. And he stopped looking for the shot late in the season opting to make the pass to Boeser in a very Henrok like fashion.

Long and grueling schedule but he signs up to play for Sweden at the Worlds. I prefer he didn't but understand why he is. Bottom line is that NHL teams know who he is now and will be ready in October. I was hoping he put on 10 pounds this summer, maybe 15. I want this kid playing at 185-190 pounds.

He's still growing into his body. So adding weight won't be too much of an issue as long as it doesn't cost his mobility too much.

From our last Calder winner:

Quote

"I've heard Elias being called a mix of Pavel Datsyuk and Pavel Bure... On one hand, Pettersson is very skilled, on the other, really fast. The NHL, too, has become really fast in the last years. But it's very important not to just run rampant around the ice but to synch the speed with the head. If a hockey player can synch, he has a chance to become great. When I see a player like this I understand he can do anything on the ice." - Pavel Bure
