RetroCanuck
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=283940 Alec Regula is a guy that has great potential and might be available for our third round pick. He has good size at 6'2- 6'4 depending where one looks and is a right shot defender playing for the London Knights. "Alec Regula, D, London Knights (OHL) – There’s a lot to like about Regula, who recently signed with the Knights. Most obvious, there’s the 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame, but he’s also a great puckhandler on the back end. He got burned badly on one goal, but there’s time to work out those kinks." http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/the-top-20-players-at-the-all-american-prospects-game Alec Regula - London KnightsRegula is an OHL rookie who is really gaining steam in the scouting community. He played a depth role for a really strong USHL team last year in Chicago (who won the Clark Cup) and is really starting to look comfortable in the OHL the last month or so. He's now playing a ton for the Knights, suiting up alongside Evan Bouchard on the top pairing. Regula has a lot going for him. He's 6'4 and moves very well. He's got excellent acceleration and is gaining confidence in using this to lead the rush. There have a been a couple times lately where I mistook him for Bouchard. Regula also shows well defensively and is a solid stick defender who seems to really process the game well. His positioning and reads are really improving. Lastly, he's one of the youngest players available this year. Don't be surprised if this guy is one of the top 5 OHL defenders taken in June. Great potential at both ends. You see these are 18 year old kids, Most of them aren't fully grown. If Boqvist grows another 2cm in the next 4 months are you going completely change your tune about him? Should the bruins have taken Fabbro over McAvoy because he was 2 inches smaller. I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous, ONE player on your D core doesn't define it. If we take Boqvis, he likely reaches 6'0 and we pair him with Juolevi who's 6'2, is that the end of the world? Sounds like a exciting top pairing to me. No the bruins should not have taken Fabbro over Mcavoy they picked who they thought was the best fit for their team. your right this is getting ridiculous you keep focusing in on my saying we need size at the back end as the only thing for your argument. As for Boqvist growing another 4 inches in the next 2 months i would be impressed. The argument his brother is 6 ft or over doesn't wash as well My two sons are 5'8 and 6'2 that happens. and the size difference was there at 17, it happens One player on your D core doesn't define it but your best player on your D core should define it. Again this is Getting ridiculous. I choose Bouchard you choose Boqvist. we will see who does better and that time will tell. I just hope we get Dahlin so we can all forget about this argument. Dahlin is special, but he's one player and if we had the first over it wouldn't be a question of who we are taking. Yes literally every year you have the opportunity to take anyone of the other D. And what i'm saying it I don't see Bouchard being a best player on the team. He's a Dougie Hamilton, good iq, good shot, doesn't effectively use his size, often lacks intensity. 4 minutes ago, mikeyman109 said: Again this is Getting ridiculous. I wouldn't pick any of the three you listed at 4 but that's My opinion. Smurfs on D do not excite me. My fear of the Russian players isn't only that they will go back to the KHL like Tryamkin when they are pushed to play better or a certain way its the threat of it when negotiating that will leave us in cap trouble paying this player more than we should. Your thoughts? As to answer your question. Each player is different. Most elite Russian players generally want to stay in the NhL because they like being the alpha dog. The only two star players that I can think that used this as a negotiating tactic in their prime were kovalchuk and radulov. Other then that, the rest were ahl to fringe nhlers at best. Now with advent of the cap and lots of khlers not getting payed on time, this negotiating tactic will probably die out.

Brobidus
What are some RHD that we could target in the 2nd/3rd rounds? I want to have a list of all the guys we could get. - Jett Woo (could be a faller) - Calen Addison (could be a faller) - Jacob Bernard - Sean Durzi - Xavier Bouchard Who am I missing? - Alec Regula

I've heard a lot of Denisenko's skill, but I haven't gotten a chance to watch him at all. I think there are some people saying he's the most skilled player in the draft. But Kravstov's production can't be ignored. I have a tough time seeing him getting past a team like Washington in the late 1st. There are so mang great options with our 2nd rounder this year it's unbelievable.
BCNate
2 hours ago, Hutton Wink said: Not so sure. In that time we'll see Pettersson, Gaudette, Dahlen, Demko, Juolevi, and likely Lind, Gadjovich, MacEwen and perhaps Brisebois or Chatfield on the roster. There should be plenty enough capital there that the future of the team will be coming very much into focus. If the majority of those prospects flame out then yes, the hot seat will become an ejection seat. "Allow" what? They "allow" nothing as it is, and make up stories when they run out of ammo (Triple-S, Demers, Gudbranson signing, etc.). Big whoop, let 'em whinge -- they've been doing it all along anyway. TL and JB don't give a crap. I agree with you. Over the next two seasons we will likely see at least 5 of Bennings prospects make the jump. If all works out, we will be a younger, faster and more dynamic team.

BCNate
I think if you get a top 3, you have to take Dahlin, Svechnikov, or Zadina, lilely in that order. We will have a high 2nd, and high 3rd to focus on Dmen. 4,5,6 spots are a lot tougher as you could take Bouchard, Hughes, Boqvist, Wahlstrom, or Tkachuk at any spot. I'd take Boqvist, Wahlstrom and Bouchard in that order, but I am sure everyone will have a very different opinion.
