Strange that McKenzies mock has called I that low at 67. Might be a damn good mid round pick for us.

All good . I appreciate your post. I just think he has more experience and consistency already. I dont disrespect others opinion unless it becomes attacking.

and Mckenzies Mock as posted is way out of date. 21 OH games since then. Bouchard has gotten better to the point he is in the running for OHL player of the year.

Again you mis -quote me .... I said under  6 feet. All the teams have ONE player under 6 feet. Only One and then they surround them with larger players.

And Boqvist is going to be at least 6'0. He's currently 5'11 right now and is still 17. But even if he doesn't, it's not a huge difference. Take out a ruler and look at how much ONE inch is.  Are you really going to try and say one inch is make or break?

You're so focused on size that it doesn't even enter your thoughts is that player properly uses their size.  Just because Dougie Hamilton is 6'6 doesn't mean plays like it.  The guy is soft as butter.  Gio is a full SIX inches smaller but plays a way bigger game.

Keep pushing for smurfs on defense.

I'm not pushing for smurfs, i'm pushing for us to pick the best player, regardless of size.  What you can't seem to grasp is, this D is one player.  ONE PLAYER.

If canucks draft bodvist at 4, trade tanev for another mid round pick, draft McIsaac, then Miller in with our early second canucks then have a future core of:

Joulevi (6'2) Boqvist (5'11)

McIsaac (6'1) Brassard (6'2)

Miller (6'3) Gudbranson (6'5)

They are not the trend and they are not where the success is.

Seems to me like it is,

Hughes, Boqvist, Merkley, Smith, lundkvist, Tychonick, and Addison, that 7 D who are all D under 6'0 that are projected to go in the first round.

Doesnt matter to me whether we take Bouchard at this point anymore. I believe he is the best D after Dahlin. Im not arguing this with you anymore. you believe its Boqvist

You consistently mis quote to try to prove your point which I already conceded. Players play under 6 feet I get it. I am just saying the success of those teams depends on having only one of those players in the lineup and adding the size needed to protect them.

How am i mis quoting you Boqvist is only ONE player.  Currently we have one other player projected to be a top 4 D in our future core, That's Juolevi who is 6'2,  (well Brassard is taking a big step forward as well and I could see him eventually becoming a top 4),  That means if we take Boqvist (who fills our PMD/PPQB need), we still have two more spots to fill.  NOTHING is stopping us from filling those spots with BIG d.

At least if you are going to quote stats post the correct ones.

Bouchard has 86 points in 66 games this year.

 2017-2018 London Knights OHL 66 24 62 86 50

If Benning could work some magic (assuming Canucks don't get first overall) and could parlay the Canucks pick into two mid-picks and bet Bouchard and Bode Wilde somehow out of that one pick it would be, IMHO, a massive home run.   Dahlin is the prize but second prize is not necessarily falling off a cliff at all.   I think two players in the system like Bouchard and Wilde would push hard in the exact way the Canucks need it over the next few years.

If we are drafting 4-5 and both Calgary and the Islanders miss the playoffs i would absolutely be calling Snow about his 2 picks....or his highest 1st and first rights to talk to tavares

Totally.   While one of the wingers up for grabs would be nice, two stud Dmen who have offensive flair, size and speed would give the Canucks' prospect pool a massive injection of upgrade.

NYI and CGY sit 9 and 13 respectively.

NYI is 12 points back from the wild card and calgary is 4 back from a wild card or divisional berth

I'd absolutely think about trading the 3/4 pick for 9 and 13 and then even try flipping the 9 and an extra to move up to 6-7 to ensure a Bouchard/Hughes/Wahlstrom and use the 13 to draft whatever else

If they said here's the 9th overall and Tavares rights for the 3rd or 4th overall and I knew we had the $10 million to sign Jonny T...I'd even take that deal knowing I could poach a #1 center and still have an awesome pick for a chance at Bouchard/Dobson/Wahlstrom or one of the top 5 fallers

For me the top 3 are set.

1) Dahlin

2) Svechnikov

3) Zadina

In that order.

I would lean Boqvist's way with #4, but anybody could make the argument for Bouchard,  Tkachuk and Hughes at #4.

Personally I like those three defenceman ahead of Tkachuk and I see us picking a defenceman unless we win the #2 or #3 spot in the lottery.  I really like Tkachuk as well.  He would be #7 on my board as his game checks a lot of boxes.

4) Boqvist

5) Hughes

6) Bouchard

7) Tkachuk

8) Wahlstrom

9) Dobson

10) Farabee

I just love the dynamic qualities of Boqvist and Hughes as well as the High compete level and IQ of Bouchard.

If we bottom out we have a 48% chance we pick top 3, so we are likely picking 4th.  Boqvist would be a great consolation prize.

PS... I gotta agree with Forsberg... 5'11" is not small.  In fact I like Hughes so much that 5'9" doesn't bother me either.  Dynamic elite skill is what is important.

I like your Tanev to PHI proposal better. Keep our 1st and hopefully snag Boqvist if we're past the top 2, then take one of Wilde, Smith etc with the pick we got from PHI.

Them added to Juolevi and Sanheim gives our D prospects a SERIOUS boost.
