Some of my takeaways here:

Miller is considerably better than Wilde according to these underlying numbers. The stats reflect the notion that Wilde has all the physical tools, but is still very raw in decision making and defending.

I've heard that one of the knocks on Veleno is that he doesn't shoot enough, and that shows in his numbers. He only had 6 goals before the trade deadline on a weak SeaDogs team and those who watched him said it was a combination of putting too much pressure on himself, trying to create too much and not shooting enough.he would have finished with over 40 goals if his first half in St. John was as good as his second half in Drummondville.

I'm surprised Groulx's numbers weren't better. I thought he was regarded as a two way player. It could be the result of playing against the other teams top lines consistently (similar to Sutter), but I'm not sure either way.

Noel's numbers are very good. Katchouk is one of the best players on one of the best teams in the the OHL and he was able to essentially match his statistical impact on the game. He's still regarded as a very raw prospect, but that's very encouraging compared to another raw prospect in Wilde.

Great post! Start the K’Andre Miller hype now! He’s not flashy but he’s effective. For all we know he could be playing it safe as he’s recently converted to a dman. You make a mistake you probably get benched. As he gets more comfortable maybe you see him get a bit flashier. I could see him becoming a Brent Seabrook type dman. That Tanev trade everybody keeps talking about :P getting another pick in the 20’s and taking K’Andre Miller there would be fantastic.

Draft is one month today

Hoping for:

Hughes (who we probably won't have a chance to get)

Wahlstrom

Tkachuk

Boqvist

Who I think we'll get: Dobson

Not sure how I would feel about that, maybe a bit let down?  I probably should watch more Dobson video, but from what I've gathered so far, he's tall (size), skates well, has a good shot, makes smart plays, but nothing flashy. Sounds a bit like Juolevi, but with a better shot.

Don't be let down. He is now starting to garner even more attention at memorial cup and is making a case to be legit top 5 pick. He may actually "fall" to the Canucks now rather than him being a reach.

Yes, players on good teams who do well in these tournaments are getting a lot of attention. Same with Kotkaniemi and Hughes, who seemed to rise in the rankings. I was also a bit let down last year when Pettersson was selected over Glass and Vilardi. But it goes to show that Benning and his team know what they're doing.

Canucks Army is doing full profiles on their top-100 for the draft. Individual articles on each prospect. #100-97 are up on the website and looks like they’ll be releasing a handful each day. All written by Ryan Biech (so far).

EDIT: #96 (Kristian Tanus) just posted as well

https://canucksarmy.com/2018/05/22/canucksarmys-2018-nhl-draft-profiles-96-kristian-tanus/

Links to the others are available at the above.

How can you be so sure?

To be more precise, they need a PP qb and Bouchard is easily the top pp dman in the draft, probably the best offensive dman overall.  Kotkaniemi is an elite passer, great shot, excellent in the dot and rock solid in his own end......they need top end cmen as much as top end D.  Dobson is good, but I think he's a 10-15 guy, personally.

I dont believe that Dobsons memorial cup performance will push him into the too 5 or 7 for that matter. Everyone thought Gabe Villardi was going top 5 for sure after his mem cup last year and he went 10th.

Wasn't he known to be injured prior to the draft and that's what caused him to fall?

Im hoping for:

1st round:

Boqvist, Dobson, Wahlstrom or Kotkaniemi.

2nd round: Sandin, McLaughlin, Miller, Martin Kaut or Lauko.

3rd round: Bernard Docker, Roman, Jay O'Brien or Jack Drury.

Beyond that i dont know squat.
