Something about asking a stupid question... He should have said he's gonna follow the Vegas model and look for some real underdog stories. Or if he was bold he could have let the media know his real plan.. which is to create a new mold for an nhl team based on drafting Player's with troubled pasts: - family issues - attitude issues - trouble with the law - addictions / vices - etc. etc But of course with high points on their analytics. now that's how you build a team! kenhodgejr
Benning likes to pick a guy based on what he thinks the guy will be in 4 years. Kotkaniemi looks like he would be a great fit between Pettersson and Boeser. A big center who can create space, make smart plays, and get the greesy goals. He has a pro frame that should be able to translate to NHL hockey easier. I am not worried about his skating. I think he could be a good first line center playing with skilled wingers. In the second and third rounds we can still find good defence man. If Tkachuk falls to us he could also be this guy. I give the edge to Tkachuk for being confrontational, but I consider their skill equal. Pettersson Kotkaniemi Boeser Dahlen Horvat Goldobin Leipsic Gaudette Lind Gadjovich McEwan Virtanen Juolevi Stetcher Markstrom Demko

Well, Jesperi Kotkaniemi does have an older brother named Kasperi. He's available, but hopefully not on our list (at least nowhere near Dobson). Kasperi Kotkaniemi is an undrafted 19-year-old (1999 born D+1) who plays goal for Ässät U20 in the Jr. A SM-liiga. Listed at only 5'9" and 152 lbs! Probably something along those lines, but at the same time depending on who's interviewing him he can be very candid. Last draft he didn't make it a secret that they were looking for speed and skill. And that's exactly what they went out and got.
R.Dahlin26
Wahlstrom should be there at pick number 7, can't miss top-end goal scorer. Can't afford to pass on a potential 40 goal scorer as the Canucks are still a goal-starved team. Dahlen-Pettersson-Wahlstrom Goldobin-Horvat-Boeser Ya he could easily be the BPA at 7 if he gets there, everyone talks about how young Boqvist is and that he has such high potential because of it but Wahlstrom is almost just as young. Plus at 17 years old he can continue to grow and along with Dobson he is already one of the most complete players in this draft.
Gaudette Celly
Hughes Wahlstrom Dobson In order of increasing expectation of availability, but very pleased with any.

-Vintage Canuck-
Jim Benning on Sportsnet 650: "There could be some surprises before we pick. I'm excited to be at seven because if a player or two goes that's not expected to go, maybe we get a player we're not expecting to get." "I think you can run into problems when you make a pick based on positional needs. I think we should take the best player available. But center-icemen & defensemen retain their value so if it comes between a winger or a centermen or a defensemen, we'll look positionally" On Quinn Hughes: "He's an exceptional skater, he's a smart player. Watching him at the World Championships, he didn't look out of place against men. Every defenseman has their quality that they're outstanding at, and they could go a lot of different ways in the draft."

He mentioned how Dobson has played so well he may now go 4th to 6th overall. Obviously I have no clue of all the prospects. I know I don't want Tkachuk. He seems overrated to me. JB knows how bad we need another stud D prospect. If JB goes with a forward I'm guessing he feels that forward is a stud. Cant wait.

I got a hunch that Ottawa takes Boqvist and Detroit takes Hughes since Boqvist is gone and we'll have Tkachuk, Wahlstrom and Dobson to choose from.
