Gaudette Celly
Quote Acadie-Bathurst general manager Sylvain Couturier, whose son Sean Couturier plays for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, said Dobson is a special player. “For a franchise to have a Noah Dobson is not every year that you have that type of player in your lineup,” Couturier said. “For me, it’s a sure bet top-10 (in the NHL draft) and I won’t be surprised if it’s a top five or six. “Noah Dobson will be not only a top prospect for the NHL but one day will be a top player in the NHL, I’m pretty sure of it.” http://thechronicleherald.ca/sports/1573336-memorial-cup-austrian-experience-pays-off-for-titan-defenceman-noah-dobson Hughes and Wahlstrom are the others that I'd be pondering if still on the board with him. Noble 6
Noah Dobson and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan have won the Mastercard Memorial Cup! They won the game 3-0, effectively shutting down Sam Steel, who finished with 13 points in 5 games and was named MVP of the tournament. Dobson finishes with 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 4 games. He was tied for the 2nd best +/- in the tournament (with his teammate) at +5. He finished 2nd among defensemen in shots and 7th overall. I have to say. that performance has got me thinking on Dobson now. He was very effective in every game at both ends of the rink. I didn't think his offense would be as noticeable, but he was involved in every play at both ends of the rink. He was great at activating off the rush and moving into open space. He had his defensive lapses, but they were rare, which is what you want from a 17/18 year old. Of course, you can't ignore the fact that he played his best on the biggest stage. His impact on the game reminded me of Seth Jones, which puts his ceiling at a whole new level compared to what I had it at previously.

Smashian Kassian
Edler? Dobson looked more Dougie Hamilton-like to me. Very good offensive instincts. He makes good decisions with the puck, doesn't seem to ever panic with it. And he skates very well. First time I got see him live and I think he's the real deal. I just personally think that considering who's in front of us and the prospects available, Bouchard could very well be available at 7. Which I would not be opposed to. Good players will be available at 7 but my prediction is that Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, Hughes and Bouchard will be off the board. I think we'll have four of Boqvist, Tkachuk, Wahlstrom, Dobson, and Kotkaniemi to choose from. VERY good options.

I don’t really care about the other teams’ needs and wants, or how they value our players compared to their players. These proposals are not real! It’s all made up! It’s for fun! It’s a Canuck’s board, so I would expect our team’s point of view to override the other teams, wouldn’t you? Again, it’s not like any of the trade proposals discussed here are real, right? This is a discussion board. Not a 12 year old girls pretend tea party where they discuss fairytales. As soon as the things become unrealistic “discussion” stops happening. alf you’re quickly going from that goofy uncle that doesn’t understand but tries to learn, to that annoying cousin that you can’t stand to be around. Maybe ease up, that is unless you are going for the most ignored user on the board.

He doesn’t have the skill of someone like Bergeron that he’s compared to. His goal scoring ability is kinda lame and he doesn’t really have that wow factor that you want in a top 10 pick. He finds him self around 18 in my final rankings. I think if Veleno tops off as a 50-60 points second line centermen, I'll be pretty ecstatic. How often do you find an elite centermen in the top 10? Going back to 2007, I could only think of Stamkos, Seguin, MacKinnion, McDavid, Matthews, Eichel, Barkov, Scheifele, and Draisaitl. 8 of the 9 are former 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall picks. Then you have guys who are first line centermen for their teams, but are a tier below these players; such as Couturier, Johansen, Couture, Monahan, Horvat, Keller, Nylander, Duchene and Schenn. His lack of scoring goals is a concern to some. However his goals production did vamped up after he was traded to Drummondville, and he would have been a 30 goals scorer if he played the entire season in Drummondville, where he had a better supporting cast than what he had in Saint Johns. Odd.
He looks like McDavid out there stylistically when he's at full flight, he's a pure playmaker for sure. But man, his finishing is definitely a level or two below. Has a very soft shot and there were times where he could have potted home goals if he had finish to his game. 6'1 195lbs. Can see him play at 215+ lbs. Unfortunately, I would still draft Hughes, Tkachuk, Wahlstrom, Boqvist, Dobson, whoever is available among those over Veleno. But if we somehow get one of the Islander's 11th or 12th overall picks, I'd for sure use it on this guy.
