Pretty sure Dobson is going 4-6... Really hope he falls to us.

He's got an Alex Edler like presence, also very Edler like stylistically

3 seasons as a legit number two is great. But im just hoping a Dobson or Boqvist has a higher ceiling than that.

A 50 point dman in their prime is pretty good, you have to admit. Only 20 defenceman last year had over 50 points. I think everyone just gets turned off by Dobson because he doesn't make those highlight few plays.

Right after us I think. So 8th.

If Wahlstrom is available at seven. We should take him. I'm conflicted. Cause we need defensive help yes. But we also need offer site help as well. And Wahlstrom if he's an elite goalscorer. You got to take him.

Or swing a deal for another first round pick - if possible. NY Islanders the best bet to swing a trade with if a deal can be made.

I keep thinking back to the Jones/Johansen trade. It's a reference for me to believe that picking the BPA is the right choice, and that you can always deal for a position if you have a surplus at another.

I don't like having to rely on a trade, but it's clearly an option. I'd be very happy with Walstrom.

Here are the official height and weights for all those that participated in the Combine: https://thehockeywriters.com/2018-nhl-combine-heights-weights/

The lightest person is Joe Veleno at 6'1 but 151lbs... huge weight discrepancy as eliteprospects and other websites had him at 195lbs. The kid seriously needs to eat. Was very high on him but that size is frightening considering he is one of the oldest.

edit: it was a typo, hes actually 191lbs.

The biggest is Curtis Douglas at 6'8.5 and 242lbs. He's a freaking centerman...

The shortest is Aidan Dudas at 5'7 though 165lbs, which is pretty good for that height.

Some other cool info is that Boqvist is NOT 5'9 150lbs, he's 5'11.5 and 165lbs at 17. He'll definitely reach 6'0. Much more comfortable in drafting him now.

And Boqvist is still growing.  He’s almost young enough for next year’s draft.  He could be a steal at 7, much like JB stole Pettersson at 5.

The official heights/weights of players from the combine are out:

7th Overall Targets:

Dobson: 6'3, 176 lbs

Bouchard: 6'2, 195 lbs

Smith: 5'10.75, 176 lbs

Boqvist: 5'11.5, 165 lbs

Tkachuk: 6'3, 191 lbs

Wahlstrom: 6'1, 208 lbs

Kotkaniemi: 6'2, 181 lbs

Curiously, Hughes did not test. The reason provided in this source is that he was away at the WC. Boqvist will likely end up playing at just over 6 feet in the NHL and around 180-190 lbs, which is not bad at all. Smith is solid for his height. Dobson has some room to fill out while Bouchard looks like he's pretty much set. Wahlstrom is packing a lot of weight on his frame currently, I'm not sure how much of it is body fat and how much is muscle, but I would assume he'll have some conditioning work to do when comparing him to Tkachuk. Kotkaniemi is lighter than I thought he would be.

Mid 1st Round Targets:

Lundestrom: 6'0, 183 lbs

Kupari: 6'1.5, 189 lbs

Denisenko: 5'10.75, 172 lbs

Wilde: 6'2.5, 198 lbs

Farabee: 6'0, 162 lbs

Hayton: 6'1, 190 lbs

*Veleno: 6'1, 151 lbs

First of all, the weight on Veleno must be a type. Eliteprospects has had him around 190 lbs all year, so he likely measured in at 191 lbs, not 151 lbs. Kaut did not test due to his participation at the Worlds, like Hughes. There doesn't seem to be anything that really stands out positively or negatively in this group. Every one of these players has the body to play at the NHL level, so it'll likely be other factors like drive, commitment, IQ, skill, etc. that will determine whether these guys make it.

37th Overall Targets:

Hallander: 6'1.75, 188 lbs

Lundqvist: 5'11, 173 lbs

Olofsson: 6'2.5, 189 lbs

Sandin: 5'11, 186 lbs

Kravstov: 6'2.75, 184 lbs

Bokk: 6'1, 176 lbs

Samuelsson: 6'4, 218 lbs

Wise: 5'10, 195 lbs

Addison: 5'10, 178 lbs

Noel: 6'5, 203.5 lbs

Merkley: 5'11, 168 lbs

Miller: 6'3, 198 lbs

Foudy: 6'0, 174 lbs

Bahl: 6'6, 216 lbs

Hallander had a growth spurt this year and he's been one of my favourties for 37th all year along with Olofsson. They both look like big, strong guys that need to work on their skating a little bit but excel in every other area of the game. Bokk is taller than I thought and likely has more room to fill out. Samuelsson and Bahl are monsters on the back end. Wise is very sturdy for his height with Addison not too far behind him. Noel has a lot of room to fill out into his 6'5 frame still and could be a physical force once he get's there.

EDIT: Here's a picture clearly showing Veleno at 191 lbs. The weight in the article is a type.

Thats got to be a typo. He was weighed this last sept for iss and was 191. No way he’s lost 41 pounds over the course of the year.

Others say Veleno weighted in at 191 not 151. We shall see soon...

Edit: beat to it by a couple other posters.

The top 25 in each fitness test have also been posted. Here are some notable takeaways:

- Foudy was near the top of both the left and right agility tests. He also finished 1st overall in the peak power output test, which is impressive. In addition, he was 1st overall in the force plate vertical jump, 2nd overall in the force plate squat jump and 1st overall in the force plate no arm jump. He had the most impressive combine.

- Boqvist was 2nd overall in the mean power output testand 3rd overall in the peak power output test. That's impressive.

- Samuelsson and Bahl were top 5 in the aerobic fitness duration test despite being bigger players. They were also both top 5 in wingspan (Bahl was 1st), but that's expected.

- Svechnikov was top 5 in the right agility test.

- Smith was near the top of the max speed test to the left, but did not place in the top 25 to the right.

- Wahlstrom was top 10 in the right max speed test

- Veleno finished 1st in the fatigue index test, which agrees with my observation of a non stop motor.

- Farabee had the second lowest % of body fat, with Svechnikov and Foudy also in the top 10 (Samuelsson is 8.74% body fat at 6'4 and 2018 pounds)

- Hayton was top 5 in the FMS score (not gonna lie, I don't know what this is )

- Lundqvist was 2nd overall in the vertical plate jump with Miller also in the top 5.

Foudy had a monster combine. He was noticeable in half the tests and won 1/5 of the available tests. He's a pure athlete through and through. Boqvist's performance on the power output tests was impressive and shows some great athletic ability. He'll be more than fine with that kind of ability and a 6'1 frame in the NHL. The big guys in Samuelsson and Bahl got some good scores. Names like Wahlstrom, Tkachuk, Smith, Dobson, Svechnikov, Lundestrom, etc. came up fairly often in the 10-25 range on a lot of the tests. Overall, Foudy really looked good today and Boqvist had a nice day as well.
