So you figure those 3 players average 3'8" tall and 302 pounds each? I can't stop laughing imagining that.

No, I figure they add that height/weight to our roster, about 11 feet and a half ton making Vancouver the heaviest tallest roster on record.  Kinda like Byfuglien adds an inch and 7 pounds to Winnipegs average when he weighs in at pre season training

In that case I think it's Bouchard or Tkachuk

I get scared with Tkachuk I see him as a David Backes type player. He’ll be great in the playoffs no doubt but skilled wise I like other players better even at 7th overall. When I see Wahlstrom it’s like Boeser but an inch taller and 20 pounds heavier with a slim chance at maybe being a center. Our PP would be unstoppable with Boeser, Pettersson, Wahlstrom and Gaudette ripping pucks from all angles!

I don't really know how this shakes out.  But my instinct is Tkachuk and Kotkaniemi are both gone before we pick.  One because of hype and one because he is the top C.  Add Dahlin, Svech, Zadina and one of the D to that list to make 6 and we get the pick of the rest.

My guess is.

1. Dahlin

2. Svechnikov

3. Kotkaniemi

4. Zadina

5. Hughes

6. Tkachuk

7.  then Benning takes whoever he has up his sleeve.

And Benning then has pretty much everyone we are talking about to choose between.

But this is just my guess.

I'd take any of the dmen over wahlstrom.

I read one post where the poster totally sells me on Dobson.

Then I read the next post but the poster totally sells me on Hughes.

Then Tkachuk...then Wahlstrom...then Kotka...

I can't wait until the 22nd lmao.

Wish we got another top 10 pick, freaking Benning, what's he doing!?

In your scenario we get Boqvist.  That would be excellent!  He’s got super elite potential.  Plus, he’s currently growing like a weed.

I keep thinking back to the Jones/Johansen trade. It's a reference for me to believe that picking the BPA is the right choice, and that you can always deal for a position if you have a surplus at another.

I don't like having to rely on a trade, but it's clearly an option. I'd be very happy with Walstrom.

This only works if you have a like-for-like trade. Centers and defensemen are valued relatively close with defensemen valued slightly higher. Wingers on the other hand are probably only worth 60% of the value of a defenseman. In other words if Wahlstrom become a #1 line winger he may only get a borderline 1st line defender or high 2nd pairing defender at best without adding anything.

Which is exactly why that Finn Center might even go as high as second, and Hughes third.

All I know is no matter who we pick we'll have 3 years of shoulda picked X threads

Like last year?  I don't see any threads dedicated to shoulda' picked for the 17 draft.... Here's hoping for another home run first round pick.  In some sadistic way, im hoping that Benning and co. pick a player that we didn't see coming or have focused on... And ends up being top 3 in the this draft when all is said and done.  Just to show how much we don't and will never know.  Can't wait till draft!

Boqvist does play the PK. Sometimes he has some lapses defensively. I wonder how his defensive game will translate to the NHL and if that means top pair or 2nd pair. Can be a bit of a rover but he does play with some structure and he doesn't try to do too much himself. Basically he's not Ryan Merkley. I guess it is just one game but that's what I pickup. He is very raw with great tools. Probably a bit more of a project than say Dobson.

I think I would take Dobson over Boqvist, but Boqvist would be a good pick at 7.

Kotkaniemi didn’t just have an interview with Montreal and Detroit they took him out for dinner. I feel pretty confident he goes at 3rd overall or 6th to one of those teams. Leaving somebody else to slide down.

Buff-Dahlin

Car-Svechnikov

Mon-Kotkaniemi

Ott-Zadina

Ari-Boqvist

Det-Hughes

Leaving Vancouver the choice of Wahlstrom, Dobson, Tkachuk and Bouchard. With those options as much as I wanted a dman I’d probably take Wahlstrom here.

Ok but to be fair, Detroit is kind of a sl#t, they took all of the prospects out for dinner.

Dobson seems like a mature, level-headed pro already. I think he'll have a great career.

Article in the Province, about Tkachuk, and him saying he will decide where he plays next year depending on which team drafts him, and after he consults with his family. What does this mean? If it's not a team he likes he'll go back to college? We could be getting some Juolevi flashbacks if he takes a D instead of a Tkachuk. But I'm okay with that, I think.

Boqvist could be 6'1" by the time he's ready, but that could take years. Sounds like he still needs time learning defence.

How patient are the Canucks? Are they going to be ready to compete for a playoff spot within 2-3 years? I think Dobson or Bouchard could already be playing for the Canucks by then.

I think Kotkaniemi would be intriguing, but the Canucks want Pettersson to play centre down the road.

My guess is Dobson or Bouchard.

Honestly don't think that is Jim's pick.  I know the concussion thing would scare me away.

If I remember correctly, Kyrou also demolished the combine and was picked in the 2nd round by St. Louis. He looks like a really good player now and was one of the better players in the OHL the last couple of years. Foudy could follow a similar development curve if all goes well.

He's one of the many I'd be happy with at 37th.

He was the next dman on the list, it was an older and stacked back end for Sweden.

hell be integral next WJC.

Hey I'm not cutting him up. I'm just saying it's hard to take buddy serious when he claims bloqvist had two goals against Canada in the WJC...
