Unrelated to Lind, but when I saw Swift Currents roster I saw Artyom Minulin and I wondered who drafted him cause i seemed to remember his last name and to my surprise, he went undrafted despite posting 50 points (8g 42a) in 70GPS last year in his draft year. He was someone I wanted maybe with our 3rd round pick but damn i didn't expect him to be undrafted. Guy has 10 points in 13 gps, and he's 6'3 200lbs, right handed shot. Quite baffled really. I think one of the advantages of drafting Lind is that he can go straight to Utica next year which is good for his development. If he can keep playing the way he has, I'm thinking he'll make team canada for wj.

Could you imagine Lind, Gadjovich, Gaudette, Dahlen and Juolevi all injected into that Utica lineup next year! I think as skinny as Pettersson is he probably still makes the team next year.

Don't forget that guys like Juolevi and Dahlen might prefer to play in the SHL for personal reasons as well as developmental reasons. If you know that a company will hire you sooner or later, would you take an intern job in the middle of butt_*uck nowhere, working for a crappier company then you're working for now? However very excited with Lind, Gadjovich and Gaudette being on the cusp of making the Canucks through Utica!

His deal with TPS is for 2 years, which is fine. No need to hurry him. I see him in Vancouver for the 2020-21 season. 2 seasons in Europe and 1 in Utica. I watch a lot of Swift Current Bronco hockey and I can definitely say that Steenburgen is benefiting from Hepo and Gawdin. That line is WAY better than anyone else in the WHL right now. As far as his abilities on his own, he surprises with his ability to deke, protect the puck, and take quality shots from any angle. Most of his goals right now are coming from wicked passes from Heponiemi while he finds an opening in front of the net. Their line is exactly what people talk about when they say they have players with different skillsets that compliment one another. Heponiemi is fancy, dangles and can always make space. Gawdin is more of a 2 way power forward and centres the line. Steenburgen is a fast shooter. Keep in mind that the Broncos beat out the MJ Warriors and were up 3-0 on the Regina Pats last year's playoffs. Those were two of the top teams in the WHL. They did it mainly with scoring from these 3 against guys that were 1st round picks, they can play. I honestly can't say whether Lind is a better prospect yet as I haven't seen him play, but in my opinion those 3 are the best players in the WHL right now. Edited November 3, 2017 by Where'd Luongo? He had a good shot of being drafted but after the WHL playoffs last year a lot of teams lost interest. I watched every game of theirs during the playoffs and he was invisible. He has great IQ but has a weak shot and despite his size he can't hit or out muscle anyone. If he figures out the physical part of his game he'll be good but there's a good reason he wasn't drafted. Popular Post ruilin96
So I was at the game between the Rockets and Royals tonight and here are my thoughts on Kole Lind tonight. - Similar to his team, he had a slow start to the game. Both Lind and the Rockets as a team got caught running around in their own-zone and for the first period and early of the 2nd period, the Royals were the better team and had control of the flow and pace of the game. Lind actually got a tough first shift, 24 seconds into the game, Royals strike a quick goal to make it 1-0 and Lind got a -1. He also took a penalty in the 1st period which led to a Royals PP and the Rockets got a delay of game during the PK, the Royals when 5 on 3 and scored their 2nd goal of the game. So the first period was an eventful period for Lind, once the ice for the first goal against, in the box when the 2nd goal was a result of his penalty but also got a PP assits for his own team. - As the game goes on, Lind's play picked up and his team improved as well. Lind was good at both ends of the ice and is on both the PP and PK. At the O-zone he was always looking for that pass or that shot on goal and have a strong sense to try and create offense. At his own zone, he is aware of his surroundings, and is able to deflect opposition passes and take the puck to chip it out of his own zone. - Interesting note is that the coach have a lot of trust on him. He plays the point on the first unit PP in a 4 FWD and 1 D set up. Playing the point as a forward is always a challenge, as you are looking to get the shot through from the point and also have to back-check in case of a short-handed chance for the other team. - Lind was very strong on the PK. Particularly during the 3rd period when one of his teamates was given a game misconduct, the Royals had a 5 minute major PP including a 5 on 3 during the first 1 minute. Lind was out there killing the penalties and that was a huge part of the game. The Rockets basically won their game with the PK, as they were able to keep the Royals scoreless the entire time and end up scoring the game winner late in the game to break the tie later on. Lind was very effective during the kill, and even had some solo rushes with puck and took it to opposition end and throw a shot on goal. There are also a couple of other times during the game that he had either solo-rushes with the puck in PK or a 2 on 1 with another forward for a short-handed chance. - Both of Lind's assists of the game came in two powerplays. The first one I couldn't see quite clearly as I was in the other end of the ice. The 2nd assists though, it happened at my end and I saw it clearly. The Rockets move the puck around in the PP and Lind pass the puck back to the point for Cal Foote with a point shot through the screen and beat the Royals goalie Griffen Outhouse. - There are a few aspects of his game I would like to see more of. One of them is I would like to see him go to the corners to dig for the puck. It seems to me that for much of this game, he rely more on his linemates on the forecheck to get him the puck rather than going to the corners to get it himself. It may also has to do with the way the coach wants his line to play but that was one thing I would like to see him is get more gritty and go to the corners more to be an effective forechecker. Another aspect is that he seems to be the target of the Royals whole night. He was on the receiving ends of atleast 3 big hits from the Royals. If he wants to play at the NHL level, he will need to bulk up a bit more in order to be able to obsorb the hits from bigger and meaner oppositions. I trust that he will be able to add strength and muscles to his frame and be a more complete player. It is also worthy of note that despite being hit and knocked down (he always bounced back up right away and get back into the play), he isn't afraid to go back and give the guy who hit him a shuff or even tries to hit him back once he get back up. - My observation is that Lind is a good 2-way player that can play all situations and can be thrown up and down the line-up. He isn't an explosive offensive dynamite, but more of a solid 2-way guy that you can rely on at all times. It was a good game to be at and the Rockets took the game 4-2 while the Royals fans here in the arena wasn't very happy. Fun Friday night hockey, they play again tomorrow but I won't be able to make it to the game tomorrow. It was fun to see a Canucks prospect play with their junior team live 3 1 2

When you get a lot of talent on one team/line, average players can seem much better on the stat sheet, just like playing on a line with McDavid in Junior can make you look much better than you really are (*cough* Dane Fox). Need to add advanced stats and eye test for further evaluation. Lind is the only Kelowna Rocket in the top 25 of WHL scoring so far this season and is driving the offence for that team.
