The crunch have been doing this for Tampa for years with great success. L The Comets had 7 rookies on ELC NHL contracts this year which is a very unusual high number for the AHL. Plus another 3 that are second year ELCs. If you think that Tampa Bay would put that many rookies in Syracuse and have them play 100% of the games you are completely wrong. Tampa Bay does a great job of developing NHL players but they also use the ECHL for NHL contracted players rather than having them sit in Syracuse. Tampa also emphasizes winning in Syracuse as part of their development model by making sure that the Crunch are well stocked with high end vets like Cory Conacher, Cameron Gaunce, Andy Andreoff, Gabriel Dumont, Carter Verhaeghe, etc. Only one of the Crunch's top five scorers is under 24 years old and can be considered a prospect. I know exactly how the Crunch are managed because the Comets play them 12 times a year and they are only 50 miles from Utica. Of the 7 rookies that were assigned to the Comets only two were scratched on a regular basis and it was because they simply were not ready to play every day. Palmu who looked lost and Gadjovich who in February is just starting to look confident out there. These guys will need probably three seasons in the AHL developing before being considered for any regular time in the NHL. The other rookies... Juolevi - Played in every game that he was healthy enough to play in. Gaudette - played every game that he was here for except two because he was sick. Dahlen - Missed games with a concussion and another day-to-day injury but has played consistently when healthy. Lind - Scratched I believe 2 or 3 games out of 52 so far and missed a bunch with injuries. Jasek - Scratched 4 or 5 games and missed a bunch with injuries. There is narrative that is supported on Canucks message boards and by certain members of the Vancouver digital media that Cull doesn't play the prospects and it is not accurate. Last year's crop of ELC rookies included MacEwen, Brisebois and Chatfield and even they were occasionally scratched in their rookie season (although not often). As they improved their game the more responsibility they were given and their ice time increased. And now we sit here today and two of them are in Vancouver and all you have to do is look for the quotes by Zack MacEwen where he credits the coaching staff in Utica for improving his game from where it was when he first stepped onto the ice as a Comet last season. 3 3

73 Percent
Look. All im saying is our prospects shouldnt have to punch a helmet 15 times to send a message ro the coach. Simple as that. What if he breaks his hand and misses the rest of the season plus playoffs? How exactly would that help development. At the end of the day its not a huge deal because this is part of JGs style, but what happens if lind does this to garner attention? Dahlen? Not the message i want to sent to our prospects. Dahlen's also already earned more play time and just needs to keep doing the things he's doing (and improving on them). You're attempting quite the stretch of logic to square that circle... I'm not unprepared for it at all. I thought we were having a perfectly civil discussion... and you want to take you ball and go home. Someone please quote this so he can read it You can inform your buddy 5th he got put on ignore because he lacks the ability to actually have a discussion and devolves damn near every thread in to some sad 'woe is me, I'm being attacked' nonsense that would likely be fascinating to a 1st year psychology student, and I got tired of having to comb through that disruptive blather to an actual discussion of the topic.

That's possible Alf. Pettersson will always make the players around him better. Jonah's biggest issue is his skating. Lucic wasn't a great skater either that's why they both were second round picks. But Lucic was able to overcome his weaknesses and make a career for himself. Hopefully Jonah can do the same. He was a very good junior player and is one tough SOB. I hope he makes the big club, even in a lesser role. If he can be Petey's wing man then Jonah will look like a steal in the second round.

Great tussle, but Gadj is still a good 3 years away. 2 at best. Next year he should be an ahl regular, and the year after that he should be dominating the A with call ups to the bigs. Year after, NHL. Seems like a fair honest path for him. This year shows he needs the time. Lets give it to him. 2 2

Neither guy were particularly using any defense I have to disagree with you on this one. If you are actually tough enough to stand in there and throw punches at some angry dudes face a foot away and keep going...then that is a great tussle. Not very many guys in real life have the balls to do that. I have had my share of "tussles" but never that kind lol. And I don't consider myself to be too afraid of things. Alas, now I am an old man. Sigh... 1
