That sucks. With Demko called up he may have gotten a game with the Comets if Windsor got eliminated this weekend. The Comets have a 3 in 3 coming up next week starting on Thursday. Yeah, that could’ve lined up fairly well. There’s always a chance it turns out to minor and they were just being cautious with the crutches and scans. DiPietro was quoted saying he hoped it wasn’t too bad (although what else would he say).
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
DiPietro injury “day to day” and there’s a possibility he might actually play game 6. Definitely know Mikey’s gonna do everything in his power to be in the net. Hopefully they hold him back if there’s any risk involved. UticaHockey
Gave up two goals before the Spits had their first shot. Gotta love the kid's heart but his knee may still be bothering him.

Popular Post SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Just a sampling of the reaction today. Pretty universal praise for DiPietro from OHL fans and media/pundits who watched him this series. Popular Post Noble 6
DiPietro won: The Player of the Year Award The Extra Mile Award Community Service Award Player of the year is self explanatory. The extra mile award is for the player who shows great commitment to the organization on and off the ice. The community service award is for the Spitfire that best represents the team at community events. 1 1 2

I've got concerns about the technical aspects of his game but I don't think anyone can question the kid's try, heart, attitude etc. If there's anyone that can overcome his current technical issues, it's this kid. My feelings as well. I can only imagine what kind of tender you’d get if you could transfer DiPietro’s heart and athleticism into a prototypical big bodied puck blocker with all the modern techniques. That goalie would be a monster. Still, like you said, there’s no counting out this kid. If anyone has the drive necessary to overcome his deficiencies, it’s DiPietro. I’m definitely rooting hard for him.
J.I.A.H.N
Kind of silly there are people on here that are tearing down a elite young goalie that has just dominated his league Man he must have some crazy problems!

Who’s been tearing DiPietro down? Do you mean posts like mine and @aGENT’s. Or @Rob_Zepp on the previous page? I think we’re all just trying to be a little cautious about overhyping a kid who still has some issues that will need to be cleaned up if he’s going to succeed at the highest levels. No one questions DiPietro’s heart, compete level, and work ethic. And his athleticism, flexibility, and reactions are top notch. He’s truly a dominant goaltender at the OHL level. But he can still struggle a bit at times with his positioning and posture, he can overcommit and get scrambly, needs to quiet some of his movement in the net, has a few issues with aspects of his rebound control, leaves areas of the net uncovered due to his size (and he can drop into the butterfly too early which only exacerbates this issue), and he needs to improve his puck handling ability. He overcomes many of these issues through his athleticism. His reaction speed is lightning fast and he’s capable of some highlight worthy acrobatics. He never quits on a play. And he’s so quick that he’s never truly out of a save and often recovers in highly dramatic fashion. Plus he’s about as mentally strong as they come. DiPietro has a lot going for him and there’s reason to be excited. But he will need to fine tune his game for him to find success at the next level. And his size will always be a concern. No one is saying he can’t overcome these issues. It’s more about setting realistic expections. And I’d imagine few people will be happier than myself, @aGENT, and @Rob_Zepp if DiPietro finds success as a pro. I think it’s safe to say we’re all fans of this kid. We just don’t want to feed into too much hype by representing him as something he’s not. He’s not a “can’t miss” future NHL starter. He still has some work to do. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with acknowledging that. DiPietro himself has identified many of the same issues with his game during interviews: Quote DiPietro, who has a tendency to drop into the butterfly and shuffle across on his knees, admitted this is something he is working to perfect. “That was something I really worked on (this past summer). I’ve been watching a lot of video on staying on your edge even when the shot is being released in the air, and then realizing if you have to commit to it in a butterfly, or if you can stay on your feet to make the save,” he said. “Not only reading the release, but reading the possible threat off the rush, even the guy who doesn’t have the puck. Knowing the depth perception and where you have to be to make a save while staying on your edge.” Another trap goaltenders like DiPietro can fall into is what he called “happy feet.” According to one NHL goaltending coach, what stands out about goaltenders when they first make the jump to the pros is that there is too much movement in their game. Pro hockey players have the patience and vision to wait an extra moment and take advantage of a goaltender who is now out of position. “When I went to Vancouver for development camp earlier in the summer, calming down my game and on the second save to not go into desperation mode right away was something we were really working on,” DiPietro said. “(Canucks AHL goalie coach) Curtis Sanford told me, ‘(my athleticism) will always be there, just work on holding the other skills that can help you mature in the crease and be more of a calming influence back there.’” http://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nhl/news/nhl-top-prospects-michael-dipietro-vancouver-canucks-windsor-spitfires/1iisdsza1s6mx15xhuwnz6pbtr Edited April 4, 2018 by SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME Typos 2
