Goalies take a LOT longer to develop, he's so far from being a finished product.

Hell didn't Demko take until 25 to break into the league?

Clearly management don't follow your logic, he's made zero progress while other have surpassed him. It'l be interesting to see who bites

DiPietro's agent has spoken out about his last few seasons and the potential impact of the previous regime's decisions on his client's development.

Ferris is the agent for notable names including Kadri (UFA), Zacha (RFA), Rodrigues (UFA), Domi (CHI 2022), Anderson (MTL 2020), Hall (BOS 2021), and Marner (TOR 2019).

Speaking with Kuzma, he mentioned a few routes that DiPietro could go:

Quote

'A lot of players wouldn’t even be able to endure the lack of attention that maybe the organization had given to him.' — Michael DiPietro's agent Darren Ferris

Quote

“Realistically, it’s stay-the-course until we’re able to find another team with an opportunity,” added Ferris. “That may come up prior to the season with a team that’s not happy with a decision it has made, so there are a lot of variables here.

Quote

“There are occasions where they’ve dropped the ball on his development. The truth of the matter is that the bulk is more on the organization that it is on the player in this instance. Hopefully, we can get him in the right position.”

Here's Artur Silovs' last two years :

2020-21 Manitoba Moose AHL   1 2.06 0.920 |
  HK Mogo Latvia   4 2.56 0.899 |
  HS Riga Latvia   2 4.34 0.923 |
  Latvia (all) International   2 1.93 0.932 |
  Latvia Deutschland Cup   2 1.93 0.932 |
2021-22 Abbotsford Canucks AHL   10 3.10 0.888 |
  Trois-Rivires Lions ECHL   10 2.37 0.920 |
  Latvia (all) International   1 - 1.000 |
  Latvia WC   4 1.22 0.952

|

Artur flew all over the world to scrape together a couple of starts here and a couple of starts there.

Keep this in perspective when complaining that Benning ruined DiPietro's development.

Always seemed like a high risk high reward pick due to his stature.  Seemed like a nice kid but I remember him getting leapfrogged in the AHL a long time ago.  I don’t blame the agent for sticking up for the client… but yeah.

This is just summer cannon fodder for the people who can’t live with Benning being a bad enough GM to get fired.  He needs to be a villain as well.

I don't get why we signed his RFA contract him if we were just going to trade him for scraps. I would think its more of a burden to give up a contract slot than the slight chance we might get a 7th rounder or something like that.

I think people are going to be surprised at how good Mikey will be and he will challenge Silovs for the #1 spot in Abby. B)

Agreed.  MDP lost two seasons of development, but doesn't mean that the skills he had are lost.  He had a decent season last year and probably got some good coaching from Sanford and Clarke (to a lesser degree), so he could very well be the goalie everyone thought he was going to be when he ruled the OHL.

Like all things in life, MDP's place in the organization is relative to where he sits among Martin, Silovs and Delia.  Right now, he looks like the odd man out, but that could change in an instant.

According to Kevin Woodley, goalie guru/writer extraordinaire, he believes Delia is the prototypical Clarke student, so if MDP ever reaches the heights he was projected to achieve, it will most likely be with another organization.  Or as Woodley was musing, it could be that Delia develops his game quickly under Canucks' goalie coaches and becomes a valuable trading chip.  Either way, if the Canucks are going to find a new home for MDP, hopefully they can maximize MDP's value, whatever that may be.

Unless a team has a goalie injury it seems like Mikey Dipietro is more likely to go on waivers than get traded no...his agent has had most of the summer to talk to teams in regards to a trade and nothing has come of it. Unfortunately, with Covid and such his development got derailed in my opinion and as any young prospect especially a goalie they need to plays games not sit on the black aces all season like the old regime did with him...

Wish him the best but seems he is the #3 AHL goalie behind Delia and Silovs and we need to get Silovs in games so we shouldn't have 3G this year like we did last...that worked out as we all got pleasantly surprised by Spencer Martin and he is our NHL backup for the next 2 years hopefully while Silovs gets more AHL games to further his development.

Not sure why everyone thinks he requires waivers. Have seen a number of people post that across multiple threads. He's waiver exempt for another year:
