This doesn't mean I don't want Tryamkin, as he was awesome, but I still fancy Guddy to hang about. No, he didn't knock "the head clean off anybody", but he isn't a dirty player. He just plays with his size to his advantage. I sure hope you aren't saying that Gudbranson hits at the same level that Tryamkin does... because he simply doesn't. Neither have scoring ability to write home about but I think Tryamkin probably wins in that regard too. Heck, as a rookie he produced slightly more than Gudbranson and that was even with extremely limited ice time. Bottom line: If we could have a player that does it all (hits hard and often, and scores) then that'd be great. Edler is the closest thing we have to that already. So given the option of adding 1 goon or 2 goons, I'd rather add only 1 goon and give the rest of the ice time to guys who might actually put up points on the board or at the very least ensure that the points aren't put up AGAINST us. We have seen players struggle to beat out established players time and time again. Even when they may have thrived if an opening arose. Almost every position is currently open and the prospect that took their off ice training seriously could take the spot. The only players not in jeppordy are: Horvat Boeser Baer Sutter Beagle Rousell Tanev Edler Guddy Markstrom (at least for the start of the season) Guys who could lose a spot are: Granlund Eriksson Gagner Gaunce Virtannen MDZ Hutton Pouliot Nielson Beiga Lepsic etc... Thats a big opportunity for the player ready to seize the day. A lot of players pushing for only so many positions. For true nucks fans this is an exciting time. The next core is taking shape before our eyes. This is could be one of the most significant camps in decades. 3
WonderTwinPowers
I must say everyone putting Try as the #5-6 guy is hilarious. He's not coming back to play there. Top 4 or Russia.

Actually, I’d rather have several hard-nosed guys that can play on the team. They will provide examples to Virtanen, Tryamkin, Gadjovich and others of how they are expected to play. Having a few guys, like Lind, Leipsic, and Gaudette that have an edge to them won’t hurt either. Archibald already has enough experience in the AHL to understand that. He is a proficient checker and penalty killer who throws in some offence and truculence to lay a legitimate claim to that role.

Well it wasn’t as if the team didn’t conceed while Trym was on the ice... Gudbransson a goon??? Furthermore I tell you this, at this stage of the rebuild in particular I want somebody who is willing to drop the mitts if somebody messes with or younger prospects. The dream that Trym could be our Chara dies if he doesn’t find that nastiness Guddy has. Yes he is may be a better defender than Guddy, but I want intimidating size on our back end. And not just one or two. We will see this season if Guddy hits or not, but I disagree that he doesn’t hit at the same level as Trym. I don’t know about you, but I’m so done with turning the other cheek culture Edited July 5, 2018 by spook007

Just because you are a KHL AllStar doesn't mean anything in the KHL. Phillip Larsen was the Top Defenceman in the league this year!
alfstonker
I love the potential of JR. Every time I see a mention of him now I hear that lady commentator's warning, ringing in my ear, as he rips through her team's defence. Plus he can on any line an be effective in almost any role. Would like to see him throw the body around a bit more in a 3rd/4th line role though. He's been working with Pavel Barber in the offseason. Pavel is a "stickhandling specialist" so hopefully that will help his hands a bit. That Rathbone guy though... Glad to see he progressed physically, thats why I feel that Hughes would benefit with one more year of college. 10-15 pounds of muscle would make a huuuuuuge difference.

Bigturk8
Rathbone looked good tonight. His skating is superb. His edgework by the boards in the offensive zone made a few players look silly.

He's got elite skating ability and he can absolutely hammer the puck. This might be the diamond in the rough from the 2017 draft. Other than that, you list is pretty spot on.

I'd say he's a tier below Hughes. Quinn can just make plays so effortlessly. Rathbone is a great high-end skater but isn't quite as smooth as Hughes. I will say though that Rathbone has a cannon of a shot. That's one area where He has an advantage over Hughes. But in every other area Hughes is at another level.
