Pears
We'd have absolutely nothing to lose by signing Yakupov. Him and Rattie are two players we should bring in.

Honky Cat
I say go for it..considering where we're at,there's no downside to it at all.
diesel_3
Low risk high reward. There is no doubt he oozes talent, he would come at a very good price and might just fit in well with Green's system. When you have cap space and you can spend a tiny little bit of it on a player who was once 1st overall, i'm all for a career rejuvenation.
NHL'er
We have to get our first overall pick somehow, I'm all for it! Think he has a lot to prove and could turn out great for us.
Outsiders
Play him with the Sedins for preseason and 10 games of Regular season and see if he can find his offensive touch. To me he is the type of player that is all about confidence. If he has it he is on top of the world thinking he can score anytime the puck is on his stick. But when he doesn't have confidence he looks lost and can't get back

oldnews
Edmonton did this guy no good. He's still pretty vacant - still getting 64% offensive zone starts with not very good underlying numbers or production. He's reaching that point though where he needs to step up and get over the crushed confdence of being a kid Oiler thrown to the wolves. It's questionable whether he could earn a roster spot - but if he's willing to sign in the range of a million and come to camp realizing he could wind up on waivers or the AHL if he doesn't prove himself, maybe he's worth giving a chance. He's not exactly the type of forward the team needs to add, but if he gets over a hump, who knows - maybe he's still got soemthing to prove. Bruce Boudreau
A former #1 overall pick who was an elite goal scorer in junior! Why the f not?
MJDDawg
I'd rather play one of the kids than sign one of the Oilers sloppy seconds.
on the cycle
Sure. He's a very skilled player but he needs to play with a high IQ playmaking center like Hank. Yak just doesn't make great decisions and doesn't use his teammates enough. There is a lot of opportunity of the Canucks, so it makes sense. Bruce Boudreau
Beggers can't be choosers Van should be happy players still find this current Canucks situation attractive... Maybe this could be a good relationship for both sides Yak needs a fresh start low pressure on a bad team with low expectations and Canucks need some goals and speed. DownUndaCanuck
Less than 1M per year, give him a one year two way deal, nothing to lose. Could be the opposite of the Kassian signing in Edmonton. That sort of pedigree and potential can't go untapped forever, he's not a classic bust the way they used to be, this guy has the potential to explode. oldnews
I say let Travis Green make a player of him, and then flip him back to Deadmonton for Kassian - and a 5th lol.
JM_
@Stierlitz - have you heard anything more about him in the Russian media? Has he improved his attitude or reputation at all with the Russians? I dunno... it seems like he's been around forever but he's only 23. If he was to finally turn it around... a line with him and Goldy on it could be quite entertaining. Mike Vanderhoek
Being a former 1st overall who started out his career down the lineup putting up 30+ points. The player has major skill and with some focus and direction ( is this something Green can help with ? ), sign him one year at 2m per. Put him in a role to succeed and utilize his skill. You want skilled players ? he fits that bill.
