Heretic
This seems to be the only way we'll ever get a 1st over all pick - and he's Russian - Da Da Da!
TheRick
Sign him to a PTO to see what he can do in the pre-season.

Since his draft year, he has always iterated his favourite team was Vancouver and his idol was Bure. If playing on the Canucks drives him to succeed, we'll likely have a 25+ goal scorer for free. id even do 2 years at 3 mill per. any higher then that though is to steep. he is probably more deserving of a 1.5-2 mill contract but id pay him extra if we can secure him. he could be a good long term fit as a secondary scorer. as long as he doesnt beat out Dahlen of a roster spot lol. ForsbergTheGreat
Injuries are going to happen, not a lot to lose by signing him, if he works out, great we just got a free asset, if he doesn't...oh well....He's a better offensive threat than Megna,,,,
Where's Wellwood
His agent will say he has interest anywhere. Except maybe Edmonton.
tas
either pto or 1 year at $1 mil or less and see if playing where he wants combined with it being his last chance, plus being surrounded by travis green, the sedins and bo horvat can turn his career around. coastal.view
i'd give him only at PTO and see how he does in training camp and exhibition games and only offer him a contract if he plays well enough and appears to be a good fit he did not work out with the oilers playing with mcdavid.. wtf? so he clearly needs to rework his game and approach and showed nothing really while with st louis he therefore brings nothing on his resume except that he was #1 overall in the past he must earn a contract to be with this club or i say just pass on him
TimberWolf
low risk, low expectations high reward or no loss. Unless he expects stupid money, then pass

He's not worth anywhere near that though. 40 games and 9 points last year - 64% offensive zone starts with middle and top 6 forward linemates. Realistically, that has him on the verge of waivers / not making an NHL roster. He's at the point where there is no more riding pedigree - 1st overall means literally nothing - it's a show-me situation for him, unless he's fortunate enough to find a reckless GM. He's already made over 16 million coasting on pedigree. He needs to sign for what marginal bottom 6 make and play/produce for his next contract imo. billabong
1yr/1m? It's a low risk move he might be motivated to play for the same team his favourite player, Bure, played for.

If he signs for under 2 mil, sure why not Because he is useless and terrible and it would take a roster spot from a player that actually deserves to be in the nhl. oldnews
Would it ever be sweet if he came into his own in Vancouver though. Won't be banking on it, but that would be some much deserved reverse of fortune for this team.
PunjabiCanucks
1 year, 1.5 million. But he gets top line minutes. Dahlen and Pettersson should work together in sweden or the AHL next year.

We don't need him and honestly this will likely be his last year in the nhl. The individual you quoted said 3 million per, wtf?? That's crazy!! 48MPHSlapShot
Might as well give him a tryout, but nothing more. At this point, we can afford to take some risks.
Lancaster
Just from an age perspective, he's just 23 and will be entering his prime years soon. He obviously has skills and is not completely unable to play in the NHL. Perhaps some better training, a better leadership group and a more communicative coaching staff may be what turns his career around. A cheap sub-2 million/year deal with maybe 1 or 2 years seems very fair.
hiebskey
May as well try. Assuming we can get him on a decently cheap contract. Give him a 1 year even. The guy has skill. Just needs to figure things out.
