Hypothetically speaking. If Vegas cannot find a trading partner to offload Sbisa too, he will go on waivers and yes, Canucks can claim him.

Will they claim him? Should they claim him? Both sides have their merit. I would rather claim Sbisa then sign Carl Alzner.. If Benning claims Sbisa, does this re ignite the Trade Tanev movement? Lou Lamerello and Leafs were chasing hard after Hamonic who fetched a 1st and two 2nd round picks from the Flames.

With Methot and Hamonic now off the market and the Leafs looking for exactly that type of D man, one can easily make the argument for claiming Sbisa off waivers (I agree he serves pizzas, but he also knows our system and IS physical) as Tanev value may have just jumped in the eyes of Toronto.

Is claiming Sbisa worth a 1st and two 2nds from Toronto in exchange for Tanev?

I'd be all for claiming Sbisa, he definitely improved last season and looked to be really solid. However, claiming him, for me, doesn't necessarily make Tanev expendable. He brings a lot to the table and getting rid of him only makes our already thin blue line thinner.

If it's the right deal, make it. But if it's not, no need.

1 = no

2 = no

3 = no

Benning should NOT place a claim, Benning will NOT place a claim anyways.

Tanev has zero to do with Sbisa on the roster or not. Tanev wont be traded, as a fan I think he should have been dealt if the return would have been a 1st or solid prospect with 2nd or something of that range. My reasoning is Tanev may not hold the value he has now as we move forward. That said he wasn't dealt I doubt they'd consider it now.

Alberta teams have overpaid for a number of D-men:

Reinhart

Hamilton

Larson

Hamonic

Still don't know if it means we'd hit the jackpot for Tanev.

Look at the song for which Dallas got Methot.

Looks to me that Cdn teams get screwed more often than not.

Vegas was also in a different position then the Canucks with Methot in fact they were basically in the same position with him that Gillis was with Luongo and Schneider where everyone knew Vancouver had to deal away a goalie so the bids were low. Vegas was dealing from a position of weakness. But ya, im still not sure other teams view Tanev as being equal to Hamonic

Assuming #3 means that if Sbisa claimed by the Canucks, should Benning feel free to trade Tanev?  No.  As I see the plan, this won't happen.  Benning isn't doing the scorched earth thing because he wants to develop the players he bringing in.  And even the most impatient fan MUST be able to see that the prospect pool (and I mean anybody 25 or under) is getting much better.

About Sbisa, as long as he doesn't play above his level he is fine.  That's what Willie was able to do most of last year and was unable to do the year before.  If he's bottom pair, that's ok.  He is paid a lot for a bottom pair guy but we know what we're getting.

wait a second, why would they put him on waiver and loses him for nothing? they will trade him for picks, 3rd, 4th 5th, whatever, they will never ever put him on waiver , stop dreaming

one get put on waivers because they cant even get trade or picks, but Sbisa man, they expansion drafted him, they think he is the best choice among our Canucks players, who would throw him on waivers

so what.... maybe that says more about our team than it does Vegas.

What is the waiver picking order post July 1st and into the first part of the season?   Is it reverse finish with Vancouver having second dibs on all waiver activity for at least a few months?

Yes, Vancouver would get the 2nd shot after Colorado. Looks like Vegas gets third shot.

Waiver Priority Order: Vegas will be placed in between the 2nd and 3rd to last place Clubs in the Waiver Priority Order from today's date until October 31, 2017, inclusive (although Waiver Claims by Vegas can only be made with respect to otherwise eligible Players).
