Van/Edm(Proposal)

Recommended Posts

Just proposed this in a McDavid thread that was locked. Drai & McD prob will cost the Coilers 22, 23 millish AAV-ludicrous!

They'll NEED cap space. So how's this?..

To Edm: Sutter & Granny(about 5.3 mill AAV combined)

To Van: RNH & Pouliot(dead weight contract, only 2 more yrs) 10,000,000 AAV combined

BIG cap-help for Edm. We turn part of Kesler-return(& Shinkaruk) into a 24 yo, local kid, & former 1st OA pick!

Would rather not lose Granlund. At this point I think he has the potential to be as effective offensively as Nuge, while providing a more solid overall game at a much cheaper price as well.

Granlund- 19 goals in 69 games

Nugent Hopkins- 18 goals in 82 games

Yet Nuge was wedged behind two obvious stars, wasn't he? Being a top pick, we'd have to think his ceiling is much higher.

Could see RNH as a 30g/70 pts guy, with the right linemates. Local kid, who's age fits in really well here(24).

& most everyone agrees Sutter's contract is pretty meh. But he returns home too. Edm could really use him nicely, in that 3C slot.

Next yr, Granny will be due for substantially more than 900k.

I really like how this could upgrade 2 of our previous transactions.

Totally agree Granlund is worth keeping and not trading for RNH

The notion that Granlund is more rounded or a better scorer than Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is hilarious... C'mon... RNH has shown to be extremely solid defensively and he's getting third line minutes and low quality wingers to play with, and he is not a goal-centric player like Granlund was last year. Conveniently left out that Granlund only scored 32 points last season.

If you guys are stubborn on this, I'd suggest Baer & Sutter would be kosher. We'd keep Granny.

Id certainly prefer moving Baer over Granlund, but wouldn't that leave us hilariously weak on the left side?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to land Nuge, but I don't see who we can move off of our roster right now other than Sutter that would get the job done.

In a way, I could see this lifting RNH, ala' Dougie Gilmour, when Cliff Fletcher brought him back to Ontario.

I think they're similarly gifted players(skill sets). Whenever we played Edmonchuk, the Nuge would really bring it!

Bo

RNH

Hanky

Not too shabby...

Well..let's take a look? Say Baer

Granny Bo Eriksson

Pouliot RNH Boeser

Daniel Henrik Goldobin/Virtanen

Appreciate the disrespect there.

Who exactly was Granlund playing with last season? Well, a bunch of different players, most of whom were pretty inept offensively, hence the low assist total.

Also, $900,000 vs $6,000,000 per year.

^ But 48, if Granny keeps flying, by next summer he'd be seeking around 3 mill perhaps? Edm might get performance, & later move him if their cap scenario forced it.

RNH at 6 mill(4 more yrs, ftr) won't be so onerous for us. Particularly as the twins' 14 mill might open up next summer.

I would love to get RNH on the Canucks as well. I think everyone forgets that he had a 56 point season as a 21 year old the year before McDavid arrived. He has been placed in a different role now and I believe that is why his offensive numbers have declined a little.

NO!  RNH i have zero interest in and i most certainly would not give up Granlund or Baer for him as they are arguably on the upswing.

I would puke if i saw RNH in a canucks uniform, i may be a bit harsh but i can't stand his name, how he plays, how soft he is, and how he is a pure blood Oiler.

That'd be a good problem to have, and it'd still be still 3 mill less than Nuge.

We have to factor in we're also dumping our 3c's(Sutter) 4.3. Pouliot at 4 mill is a lump too. We're using our opening cap, to acquire a highly-projected talent. Just so happens, both GM's are old work buddies.

For Edm, it fits better than an ultra-skilled(former 1st OA) 3rd wheel.

If we're taking a cap dump like Pouliot, then we should be able to make the deal without having to deal Granlund or Baer at all.

You're right that this IS the negotiating point. I just threw the proposal quickly out there.

You can bet other teams would be sniffing 'round, if a 24 yo, former top pick is on the block. There are a few reasons Van is well-positioned & a viable candidate. Our cap space is one of the advantages we'd need to utilize. It's also Edm's crying-need.
