The last hockey game you watched was in the movie Slapshot, wasn't it?

Yours was, Celebrate the Victim, ya?

Its not about goonery and thugs. It's about a response and pushback against physicality.

There has been a formula to beating this team since before 2011. Each playoffs since were a lesson that seems easily forgotten here.

Granlund or Baerstchi must be getting traded soon?

I'd move Baer before Granlund.

I believe Baer might be getting close to his ceiling, while I truly believe Granlund is just scratching the surface of his.

And yes, I realize they're the same age.

Term/length isn't terrible as long as there's no NTC.

Though I agree with what Ray Ferraro said on TSN.

"Vancouver is going to sign 3 vets today but I don't know what they're trying to do, get from 29th to 23rd?  What's the point of that?"

I'm hoping Gagne was signed so that he can be given an opportunity to play big minutes and has another good season, then gets flipped at a trade deadline.

I generally like Ray Ferraro but i have to disagree with his comment. The point of it is to fill holes in the line up while allowing our younger players to develop properly instead of being thrown to the wolves oilers style, we all know how well that worked out for them for 10 years. these are reasonable contracts that don't handcuff the team. You'd think a guy like Ferraro would get that.

It will depend on how the future plays out.  The amount of guys that look good to only tail off - conversely guys that look poor suddenly find their stride.

New coach - new system.  Who knows who will fit and who won't.

The longest deal we signed today was three years and that was for a centre.

The Sedins very well may be retired before then and our center depth is thin and a few years out (lol) This is a great and necessary signing until our top prospects are READY to take the next step.

Anyone who in confused or thinks or thinks Ferraro is a genius for his '29th to 23rd' comment... All the Canucks did here was buy some time for our prospects and shore up the defence. Are we a better team from this. Yes.  But most imporantly...Did we need to fill spots to give our prospects time to properly develop. YES!

I've never been a fan of tanknation (shame comes to mind though) and we all know how the draft lottery plays out nowadays... I could care less if we finish 23rd. All that's important IMO is that our good young players are 'in' these games. Horvat and stetcher are guys who thrive in a competitive environment. You think they want to play with a bunch of plugs who don't want to win hockey games?!?

Our prospects are going to be seasoned to perfection the way it should be. Slow cooking these mafcks like a rack a ribs.

I find Ferraro is getting a little long in the tooth these days.

In regards to Ferraro's comments & futhrrmore, as someone who goes to all home games, just win baby! It has an affect on team moral and gives us promise for the future! I like this signing, put pucks in the net is the MO and he could gel with any of our young players. He's proven to provide offense, which we're in dire need of. low risk signing on top of the fact, if he preforms, he's a valuable asset for a team heading to the playoffs in a year or two (hope we're that team mind you) as a trade. This is a good fit. I'm 100% on board!!!

If you finish at the bottom the worst pick you're getting is 5th overall, better than drafting 15th overall.  Though you may be right, Benning seems to be better at picking outside the top 10 than in it.

why is that? let me guess, because he didn't pick the player you wanted? Why don't you prove him wrong and take one of those NHL Gm job offers you have already. The fact is only a very few players can go straight to the NHL. the vast Majority need time to develop why is that so hard for some people on here to comprehend?:picard:

Signings like this keep our prospects in the farm.

Best case scenario sutter get moved.

Yes it keeps prospects in the farm... where the should develop. Otherwise player end up at 1/2 their potential.

What happened to "it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game"?

The point wasn't about making the playoffs, obviously, it was about why we lost and continue to be pushed around.

Canucks fans are used to it.  They praise the undersized players in the off season but when the season starts they wonder why we have no push back and we get embarrassed physically on a nightly basis.  Rinse and repeat

I'll gladly take the one-trick-pony posting here on if it keeps this from happening.
