[Signing] Capitals re-sign Evgeni Kuznetsov

Washington has $34,371,795 invested into Ovi, Kuzy, Backstrom, Oshie and Johannsson. They also have $4.6m left in cap with only 15 players under contract for next season so they overpaid quite a bit

They also re-signed Orlov to a big contract the other day.

I'm wondering if there's an Ovi trade in the works. It's the only thing that would really make sense for them. Trade Ovi for a bunch of cheap entry level deals?

Canucks should offer sheet Burakovsky for 3.9 million per year.  Caps only have like 4.5 million left in cap space with only 15 players signed.  He's only 22 and a C/LW.  We'd only give up a 2nd.

It would be a dick move but one that I am sure is being discussed somewhere by more than one team.

I hate how that rule is there and no GM uses it.  All should be fair game when you want to make your team better.  It isn't illegal.  I would love it if Benning did it.  He's a top 6 forward that we can definitely use for now and the future.

Don't disagree, but it would be seen as a dick move.    I would think Vegas as someone noted would be in good position to do it given all their picks.

I can't see why this would be considered a dick move.  WSH chose to hand out large contracts, they knew the terms of the CBA.  No one is putting a gun to their head and forcing them to overpay for free agents.  The other 30 NHL GMs are neglecting their jobs if they do not use all possible means to improve their chances of winning.  I can't wait for the first GM to grow a pair, target RFAs and stop the collusion.

Its an expression, no need to be snarky.

It was a joke, sorry if you didn't take it that way.   I will keep better track of who does and doesn't mind kidding on the site.   You do mind apparently.   Sincere apologies.

Never mind then. Lately I have been getting attacked quite frequently on here, its made me a tad defensive.

Case in point...
