-Vintage Canuck-
Quote Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has re-signed defenceman Evan McEneny to a two-year, two-way contract. McEneny, 23, appeared in 64 games with Utica last season where he finished ranked second among defencemen in goals (8), fourth in assists (15) and third in points (23). He also made his NHL debut last season on February 25th versus San Jose totalling 15:08 TOI. In his first full season of professional hockey in 2015.16, McEneny ranked second among Kalamazoo Wings defencemen in scoring with 25 points (1-24-25) in 36 regular season games. The 6-2, 223-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario, was signed as a free agent by Vancouver on September 13, 2012. https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/canucks-re-sign-evan-mceneny/c-290378856
Nuxfanabroad
Good to hear. One of our darkhorses coming off a great yr.
Rick Blight
Green used him in every situation in Utica last year and I don't think he would hesitate to use him during call ups this year. He has the size, mobility and puck movement capability that management wants to see from the d corps.
JM_
He's an interesting case, had some very back luck with injury timing but maybe he's got something. Canucks Army (for what its worth) seems to think had he not injured his ACL he would have been a 2nd round pick.
Hortankin
Never really watched him but frome what I hear he is a very good prospect and most people under rate him.. myself included.. might go watch some clips on him
stawns
Aside from OJ, he's the club's best d prospect, Hutton and Stetcher included. I see him as a solid top 4 dman in 3-4 years. Watching him play for Utica, last season, was a highlight of last season.

It will be interesting to see how he develops.

Nucker 67
Yeah, I thought McEneny looked real good last year, which makes me wonder why JB went out and signed Holm and Wiercioch. A bit of depth anyway. The Canucks have quite a few left hand shots on D: Edler Del Zotto Hutton Wiercioch Holm Pedan McEneny And coming up the pipe are: Juolevi Brisebois Gunnarsson Rathbone Brassard Sautner Candella Tryamkin? GB5
Signings are good. I didn't realize he was such a big guy at 223 pounds. We may see him from time to time in the NHL this year. It seems like this team needs at least 8-9 NHL capable players it is good to keep him in the system.
RRypien37
223 pounds? When did this happen? No site has him listed that heavy.

Yeah 223 add muscle and have him clearing the crease at 230-240? Plus some offense. I watched a couple Utica games and saw him replace Subban on the PP. Acquitted himself nicely. Good signing and a great call up. #trade a D man and let the kids play.
mpt
With good numbers like those at his size, we really don't hear much about him. Is he a dark horse to actually make the NHL one day?

Then we've got OJ pushing for a spot, Wiercioch... sure seems like a trade (or two) needs to happen.
-AJ-
Fantastic. He improved so much last year that he got the call up over Subban. He's got some potential to make the push for an NHL job someday.
