Crap; 2 months ago I had offers for me to give people a first rounder to take on Erik Johnson's contract.  Because he was on a crap Colorado team.

I traded him t @Captain Azzy3 days later they traded Duchesne, I think they've lost 3 times since and look like they might do damage this post season?

Today he scored more than my whole team! :o Worse, I also traded Colin Miller & Tyson Jost for ''playoff guys.'' :picard:

Just goes to show fundamentals are smarter than a short term outlook.

Gunna have to set this right with more trades! Hit me up while I'm vulnerable boys!!! :frantic:

Speaking of which, Erik Johnson is on FIRE right now, 4.83 FPs/G and increasing by the game.

Teams who want to further deepen their playoff rosters should be PMing Vegas, as we have the following available from IRL playoff teams:

Boston

David Krejci - top line C - 4.74 FPs/G

Toronto

Patrick Marleau - 3rd line forward, an injury away from top 6 - 3.18 FPs/G

Anaheim

Derek Grant - bottom six revelation this season - 2.83 FPs/G

JT Brown - bottom six hitting machine - 2.23 FPs/G

Winnipeg

Matt Hendricks - bottom six forward, chips in - 2.84 FPs/G

Tampa

Chris Kunitz - bottom six forward, scores on the PK - 2.44 FPs/G

Dallas

Jason Spezza - 3rd line C, plays PP - 2.23 FPs/G

San Jose

Brendan Dillon - solid D, consistent - 3.02 FPs/G

Colorado

Erik MF Johnson - top pair D, leads the blueline in all situations - 4.83 FPs/G

New Jersey

Stefan Noesen - middle six winger, scores in bunches - 2.91 FPs/G

Ben Lovejoy - good depth D - 2.84 FPs/G

Look at all that playoff depth. Krejci and Johnson would make a huge difference to every team in this year's playoffs, and some of that depth could be the clincher for your Stanley Cup. Don't be shy, PM this guy! ::D

Thanks @Master Mind for processing. Cal Foote was a guy we targetted as soon as we took the team over, and finally @Canuck Surfer and I were able to find a deal that would help both teams going forward. We couldn't be happier to bring in the Colorado born player and son of an Avs legend. Stay tuned for a prospect run down later today

Well?

Is Brandon Saad on a possible / likely non playoff team worth a promising 1st rounder? While having an off year...

Considering he's at $3mill for the balance of 4 years, we think so. An all star just last year, 2 time Stanley Cup champ, a guy just 25 who averaged over 50 points the last 4 years? There is talk of him being traded to a contender at the deadline, or in the off season to resolve the Black Hawks cap woes. But also a likelihood the market corrects, certainly him & the possibility Chi recovers.

For us, we're down 3 forwards to injury & still want to compete for playoff positioning. We also have 5 good young NHL D in our line up, plus several other good D prospects, some depth at that position. With those 3 forwards plus D man Calvin De Haan possibly out for the year, we felt getting a bonafide top 6 forward / top line forward playing 20 min a night was just a fundamentally sound move.

Really happy with where my team is sitting right now for multiple reasons. We're very pleased in regards to the players we have acquired recently, how our prospects are developing, and with the upcoming draft. Always looking to do some moving and shaking though and as such we are still looking to move the following players:

  • Peter Holland - Depth player on Rangers, finally getting his shot after a great AHL season thus far
  • Shawn Matthias - Depth player on Winnipeg
  • Victor Antipin - Finally back healthy and ready to go
  • Stephen Gionta
  • Colin Greening
  • Ales Hemsky - perpetually injured, but if someone wants to take a flyer at him for next year
  • Alex Broadhurst
  • Brett Mackenzie
  • MacKenzie MacEachern
  • Dylan Sadowy
  • Morgan Ellis
  • Dylan Labbe

Any interest in taking a shot at these guys we're willing to look at almost any scenario.

Guys like Turris, Jarnkrok, Domi, Lindholm, Vrana, Pesce, Sergachev are all to be considered next door to untouchable. Younger players in general will be hard to get. Picks next to impossible.

Would anyone be interested if I made a 2018 Mock Puck draft? Something to pass the time over the all star break

Yeah if it was for upcoming 2018 NHL draft selections I have no say that a) my scouting has been lax, only generic first round people I think are undervalued, and a couple later round people who have caught my eyes, not many on the list, and b ) given that my list is so small,I don't feel like sharing it with everybody.

My list is large and I don’t feel like helping everybody

Sorry if it was worded wrong but I'd just be doing a first round, not anything deeper. Could do it with a lottery simulator to spice things up

Honestly, while I love creating mock drafts with a passion, I could never do one for a fantasy hockey league - it feels too much  like a practice round where everyone can see the cards you’re holding.

I may have wayyy too much time on my hands that I can do this, but I generally compare people’s needs to the Central Scouting or ISS rankings, basing who I think will go where based off stats, size, and need. I’ve been lucky enough to have had a top 10 Pick in the last two drafts (and very likely will have one this season as well), so I haven’t had to look that far down the list except for later picks such as Otto Koivula, Jerry Turkulainen, etc.

But draftsite.com is a site I always love, I have an account there and will start doing mock drafts in about a month from now.

If anyone's interested in looking at doing a mock re-draft of a previous year, here's the link to the past few drafts.

And apologies, since I've been a bit antsy with waiting for the draft, 2018 will be the first tab you see:

Perhaps I worded it wrong but I wasn't asking gm's to show who they are targeting. I was gonna do the 31 picks and since I'm new I don't know anyone's draft tendencies, so it'd just be something to look at/talk about while hockey is dead for a few days.

I can tell you now, with hindsight, I'd have drafted first Tolvanen, then Pettersson, then Makar at 2nd overall ahead of Patrick :(
