Perhaps I worded it wrong but I wasn't asking gm's to show who they are targeting. I was gonna do the 31 picks and since I'm new I don't know anyone's draft tendencies, so it'd just be something to look at/talk about while hockey is dead for a few days.

I'd be curious to see a list like this.

That way I can pick the player you project me to, and I can blame you when he busts

Oh yeah, if you want to throw together your own mock version of our draft for us to chatter about I am definitely interested. I was leery of showing our own cards by doing what felt like a "practice draft". Not that I am ANY kind of draft genius with devious off-the-book hot-takes to hide. Are you sure you feel comfortable showing your own cards that hard though?

Dunno how many people would be down for this, but I am hoping there will be interest. I have created a server on discord..a chat app that you can use on PC and download on your mobile device. I uae it quite a bit for other leagues and it is a great way to get trade done quicker ;) lol.

Like Father, Like Son

(Denver, Co) - Today the Colorado Avalanche completed a trade that brought a familiar name back to the Pepsi Center. Prospect defender Callan Foote, son of two time Stanley Cup Winner and former Av's captain Adam was acquired in a trade that saw recently acquired top line forward Brandon Saad shipped off to Boston. With a complete rebuild in force, no roster player has been safe from trade rumors in Denver, and the pieces for the future are starting to be put together. Avalanche management had this to say about the young Kelowna Rockets defender, "We are ecstatic to acquire a defenseman that we see as having Shea Weber level upside with his size, hockey smarts and determination. As he continues to mature and grow into his body, he will learn how to compliment his high skill level with great physicality. We also think the fans will love to see the Foote name back on the ice in Denver, and this time from a kid who grew up in the suburb of Engelwood". High praise indeed, but with the fantastic NHL bloodlines and mentorship that comes with it, the sky is the limit for the second generation defenseman. The story doesn't end here though, 2019 draft eligible Nolan Foote is a highly touted prospect in his own right, will Colorado be able to finish the family reunion?

---------

Prospect Rundown

Cal Foote- Coming from the defense factory in Kelowna, the World Junior Championship gold medal winner is scoring at over a point per game basis in the WHL. In the system of a perennial contender down south in Tampa Bay, he will likely be given time to ferment in the AHL before making the jump and joining Hedman and Sergachev on the blueline of the future for the Lightning.

Lucas Johansen-A former teammate of Foote in Kelowna, Lucas has led the way for the Capital's AHL affiliate. Despite being a rookie, Lucas leads the team in scoring by blueliners with 5 goals and 16 points in 41 games played. Washington has a glut of defensemen but Johansen may force their hand to play him.

Olli Juolevi-After a questionable year in the OHL, OJ has found his juice in the Finnish Liiga. 17 points in 25 games in one of the toughest leagues in the world reveal the promise he showed ahead of the 2016 draft. Look for OJ to break into the NHL as soon as next year as he has now bulked up and learned to use that size against men.

Jordan Kyrou- The only word to describe Jordan's season is domination. Potting a ridiculous 23 goals and 73 points in 35 games in the premier development league in hockey wasn't enough for Jordan, as he added 10 points in 7 games for Canada en route to a gold medal. Kyrou will be a foundational piece for the Puck Colorado rebuild.

Riley Tufte- A rough freshman year at Minnesota-Duluth has given way to a breakout sophomore campaign where Tufte has already topped his season total from last year, in 14 less games. The hulking winger brought his physicality in a bottom 6 role for the bronze medal winning US team, where he had 3 assists in 7 games.

But the question we all need the answer too... would you trade Patrick for Barzal, 1 for 1?

No. You don't trade a man for a boy.

That stanley/kyrou trade is going to haunt us, isn't it? If only Stanley shows as well in this system as he could.....

Logan Stanley? He's going to be better than Mark Borowiecki in this league, from the hits and blocks alone. Even the biggest of pylons can have value in CDCP, it's one of the great masterstrokes @Drewismyname had to make this league unique!

Well, the inevitable finally happened, as @70seven and his Devils slip down past us in the standings. Certainly not ideal for our draft position, but I can't be entirely annoyed. I have been extremely happy with our moves lately and with the play of our kids; Naturally that is going to come with some moderate climb in the standings (for better or worse) as we produce around 17th overall over the last couple weeks. Is the rebuild ahead of schedule?

Fittingly last night's move came on the back of a 36 point effort from the back end, as our young D have been really coming online recently (joined by another win from the Domingue!). Severson is finally looking like himself, joining Ristolainen, Slavin, Zadorov, Mueller, and Carrick on a blue line that caps out at 23 years old. Oh yeah, and Enstrom still exists I guess. SOMEONE has to babysit the kids.

The forwards have been on fire recently as well, although far from sustainably. Beauvillier has been 9.04 ppg over the last two weeks on a line with Barzal. Marchessault and Rantanen just keep rolling at 5.33 and 5.38 respectively. Donsksoi is heating up to a breakout season with 6.8 ppg during that period.  Hell even Lazar put up 2.6 ppg somehow.

I certainly don't expect this level of production to continue across the board, but it is promising to see flashes of it. Ahead of schedule or not, the team still has SO far to go before it can build to competition. Every time I think that we are making progress I take a look at some of the ACTUALLY stacked rosters in this league and flinch. Maybe one day I can hope for all the glory of an early first round exit!
