Another fun night in Kingville! Quick with another awesome performance though sucks assists don't count? Nevertheless, he has returned to form for sure. Benn with a goal and a assist. Also did you all see Bellemare make Petry look silly... great to see our depth contributing. Kings are starting to turn a corner. Watch out for us!

You may be pleasantly surprised to hear goalie assists do count - which contributed to a 14 point night for Quick.

Petry didn't look too silly assisting on the GWG and earning 7.75 Fpts on the night.

L.A. made the pick. And then they traded him and a 1st round pick (ended up being Julien Gauthier) to rent Andrej Sekera, who then promptly got injured, and the Kings missed the playoffs entirely.

...So - you think trading a late 2nd to gamble on Vey is bad?...

I think that's part of the reason people don't talk about how bad the trade turned out, because the end result was much worse for the team we made the trade with. Kind of like the Ballard trade - he sucked for us, but Florida didn't end up with anything useful either. The only team that really benefited in the end was the NY Islanders.

Looking at the Baertschi trade - also a 2nd round pick - we moved what was to be the #53 pick, so close to the same value / potential as the Vey pick. Besides Vince Dunn, you could easily argue that the best players drafted from #53 onwards were Adam Gaudette and Guillaume Brisebois. So in the Baertschi case, hindsight proves that deal to be great value. He also had a much better NHL sample underneath him than Vey did.

With Vey, McKeown with the pick alone makes it bad. But  other players drafted after #50 - excluding our own selections of Tryamkin and Forsling - include Brandon Montour, Christian Dvorak, Brayden Point, Ilya Sorokin, Igor Shestyorkin, Anders Bjork, Kevin Labanc, Ondrej Kase, Mike Amadio, and Viktor Arvidsson. The 2014 draft had much better depth, in hindsight, but that's never stopped anyone in the Vancouver media from banging on about bad draft picks. Just look at the Jake/Nylander/Ehlers saga ever since.

I wonder whether Benning was prepared for the 2014 draft, thought he didn't have enough picks in him and one would be better spent gambling on a guy known to the coach? The Sven deal looked like a much better gamble, in that there was always going to be some form of reward for us, but the Vey deal looked a stretch at the time, and now? It's horrendous.

Apparently I never posted anything regarding the Zach Parise deal from yesterday - we'd like to apologize to Zach for our apparent busyness as an organization and welcome him to the team. We hope he can rebound well from his injuries and look forward to seeing what he can contribute to the team as we move forward. We'd also like to thank Josh and Colin for their contributions and wish them well in Vancouver. As always, a pleasure dealing with @Tylez.

Thanks to @Captain Azzy for the pleasant negotiations in the most recently posted deal and @Master Mind for posting and processing the trades.

We'd like to thank J.T. for his time as a Washington Capital and wish him the best of luck going forward. Unfortunately, with where we are at as a team this was a much better move for us long term. We'd like to welcome Kasper and our future player via the 2nd round pick to the team.

The Blackhawks thank @Sygvard and @Sestito'sHandMadeVodka for the intelligent discussions that lead to this trade. We see Borgman fitting our 'win-now' profile and the 1st in 2019 fits Buffalo's plans; nice to make a mutually beneficial trade.

This was a tougher trade to swallow as we held close to our hearts the players we had to let go. We thank @Baer. for his wise negotiations in, like our day's previous trade, what we believe was a value trade for both teams.

We wish Paul, Sonny, Curtis, and Michal good fortunes in their new career paths with the Wild, who will definitely benefit from the added depth and promise they bring.

Chicago welcomes our two 2017 first round picked prospects PO better-than-my-teammate- brother Joseph and Robert not-the-singer Thomas to our team and look forward to their contributions with our 2019 Blackhawks version.

This one was interesting, as we have had a few offers on Borgman recently. Some were decent, but none involved the 1st round pick which was our main target. We are a bit over-saturated with 2nds at the moment, and wanted to make the jump to a first even if it meant adding extra value on our side. Part of our bargaining talks involved using SV as a reference point, along the lines of: "Borgman is the exact type of player responsible for SV's success: A somewhat risky waiver ineligible player on a playoff team. If you want to challenge him at his game, here is your chance".

After the 2nd time we used that argument it occurred to us that we should probably just offer Borgman to SV. He immediately put a 1st on the table, and the rest progressed smoothly with some nice chats in between. Time will tell who got the better value, but we were happy to meet our target return.

Special thanks to @Sestito'sHandMadeVodka for fine tuning the value gap with the swap of 2nds, which should be close. I have faith in you @Jaku, do me a favor and pass Winnipeg so we look smart.

Very happy yet cautious with this trade. We gave up two big parts of our future in Joseph and Thomas.

Personally, I am very high on Kempny, and his contract is a bargain. Can't wait to see what he can do for us.

Sonny is having a great start to the season with 8 points in 15 games. He's only 21 with tons of room to grow on an improving Columbus team.

Paul Byron is another cheap addition to the team who will fill a bottom-6 role. Montreal is no good right now but they have improved over their last few games.

Not gonna lie Lazar was a throw in, I don't really care much for him, but better than having injured players in the line up.

Thank you to @somethingvery for the professional negotiating and @Master Mind for the quick processing as always!

Looking to move some prospects that were apart of the disaster in Ottawa before I came along. Feel like there needs to be more turnover. Yes, I'm being petty.

Available:

Zach Senyshyn

Vladimir Tkachev (1995 version)

Marcus Pettersson

Will Bitten

Markus Niemelainen
