Personally part of the excitement of seeing what the young guys can do includes Rodin.  Anyone who's a top star in his former league should be looked at.  Don't know where he would actually slot in, but I hope it's him and Boeser that capture the two spots Benning says are still available.

I think there's a top 9 skill W spot and a bottom line, defensive/grinder W spot open.

Neither particularly suit the latter.

Yes.  But he was also 77 and 74 :P

Thanks to google: 7 as an Oiler (80-87) 77 as a Pen, King, Wing, Whaler, Flyer, Hawk, Hurricane (87 - 00) and 74 as a Bruin in 00-01

Coffey was 7 during his best years. It's like saying Bure was 96.

The only thing special about 77 was when Ray Bourque took off 7 to reveal 77 in hounor of Esposito

it's really not like that at all.

bure wore 96 for 70 underwhelming games over 2 seasons in the middle of his career.

coffee wore 77 for 859 games (not including playoffs) over 13 seasons, including 4 of his 8 most productive years and a stanley cup, vs 7 which he wore for 532 games over 7 seasons (the other 4 best seasons and 3 stanley cups).

effectively anyone not old enough to have watched or remembered the oilers dynasty years, but old enough to have watched hockey at any point in the 90s (basically anyone aged 23-37) will remember coffey in 77.
