If I could please have everyone's attention,

Today with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our friend, and fellow GM Darren " Wilb " Wilby. Darren passed away on December 30th surrounded by his wife and six beautiful children. Darren was 43 years old.

The CDCGML League is saddened to hear of Darren's passing but to have known him for most only on this forum, some outside of it he was a true gentleman and class act who put family first and even when struggling never approached things negatively. We are better to have been a part of his journey. Truly. If even for just a short time on here he will always be a GML member. His positivity, determination, perseverance and dedication to the League cannot be understated.

The League will respect " wilb " and not be looking for a new GM of the Stars in the interim, to be discussed at a later date with the League announcing specifics when available.

Darren's family asked if anyone feels compelled to, he would wish donations be sent to okanaganrailtrail.ca ( in his name ) to help finish a project he was passionate about, a new trail connecting his hometown of Coldstream to Kelowna. There is zero obligation and we felt it best we relay his wishes here as he is a family member here too. If anyone has any questions about this project feel free to read the site or pm me at any time.

Thoughts and Prayers to the Wilby family,

Thank you.

Darren " wilb " Wilby

Mike, thanks for doing this!

CDC is pretty much anonymous. Save a couple guys here in GML with some media cred. We have known that Wilb was very ill for some time. And my heart welcomed Aynslee's report last year of meeting him.  Being a host for him at a Canucks game considering his circumstance. That we named an award and recognized him said a lot about our group.

It is pretty humbling to hear of the passing of a father of 6 kids. Nearly ten years younger than me. And seeing a picture of a bright young man! Yet encouraging to hear of passions he held to his passing.  I also believe in the rail trail program, nearly 20 year on from moving from BC.  I will participate.  Messages like yours, that add some value into an appreciated person, a picture to a name, and a bit of purpose & that people matter helps when such messages have to be conveyed.

Hope you are well somewhere Darren!

Still struggling with what exactly to say about Wilb...  he was a class act all the way.  The way he fought for so long was inspiring and it was an honour to call him a friend, even if just through this game.  I've long said that if I accomplish nothing else out of building this game and running it for so long other than providing him a means of escape and refuge to have fun and distract himself a bit from the heaviness of what he was facing, then every second is worth it.

In December I remember a friend of mine in Malakwa (tiny town that you'd drive right past and miss if you blink at the wrong time on the Trans Canada 30 minutes west of here) had posted about a benefit dinner there for him and his family.  I wanted so badly to make it out to that, but alas was not able to make it in from my trip at work in time to get there, I got home 4 hours after it started.  I missed the chance to meet him in person and am lesser for it.

We'll all miss you brother.  Let us all raise a glass tonight and toast our departed friend.  May you rest in peace.

361 points out of the playoffs, and 2nd last in the conference. Really dont want to sell again and waste an amazing year by Mackinnon...ut then again playoffs is a bit of a stretch at the moment..so Carolina is open to anything

This only means you have half a season to gain ground on others, injuries will pile up or play a bigger role as the season progresses, your starter in Anderson is bound to produce more the last half vs a poor first half of the season. You never know.

Been waiting some time to see Detroit atop the standings after a significant amount of games played. Great to see a lot of different players contributing and the leaders of the team carrying the torch and leading by example.

That being said, the Red Wings are open to trade discussions. We have some young pieces to play with, and are open to exploring different options as they come available.

Edmonton has cap space available & a desire for roster players to help keep our roster full, legitimate. This year and next. Looking to take on contracts.

Please don't read this as an invitation to ask for a first for a crap contract.  But a contract inhibiting a playoff team from making moves could be sent our way for little or no cost.

Or as part of a hockey deal?

NHL-Colorado-Avalanche.png is also willing and able to take on short term cap for the right return to any teams hoping to free up cap space heading in to the TDL.

We also have some playoff bound depth vet D's available as well (Beauchemin, McQuaid, Gunnarson) that we can retain on.
