RODIN waived

Just a lightweight soft player...with potential perhaps...however Vancouver has bet on too many of these types far too often. Cut him loose and let him explore other options.

I am so sick of statements like this. How tough has the Penguins been the past two Stanley Cup wins?

Agreed. Vancity needs big/fast/ tough  forwards.   We got more than our share of soft forwards.....

I have had enough of people calling Rodin "soft"....it is nothing like the reality....he puts himself in harms way too often ....on the backcheck....going into traffic to steal pucks...trying for tips around the net and paying the price to deliver "on the tape" passes.

Rodin isn't going to run over people but he will take the puck away from them and make them cry....that is being tough.

We can never have enough guys that can both setup and score goals...if we need to get tougher we sign Archie and keep Jake up, etc.,....Rodin is/will be better than Burmistrov and Dorsett and Vanek and Archie ...he was good enough for a spot but JB got greedy and tried to sneak him through....it's not going to work though....

I'll be surprised if he isn't picked up tomorrow. Quality asset management from Jim Benning on this one.

Oh CDC. 1/2 the posters, we want young guys on the team. Player gets waived to make way for a young guy. Other 1/2 of CDC: "Wah asset management"

PS very unlikely Rodin is claimed by another team. Teams are looking to drop contracts right now, not pick more up, especially a player who hasn't played professionally for most of 2 years, and is coming off 2 knee surgeries

I wouldn't call Crosby soft. I also think Sestito is tough.

I'll partially agree in that management got Ryan Reeves so they agree with you.

Call me old school toughness matters. The "goon" is gone, but you still need thoughness.

It might help that the Pens have some of the best offensive players in the game in the line up.  Low scoring teams have to compensate somehow for their lack of offense. Small soft guys just won't do it.

Yes, a lot of fans don't realise that when you are not hurting the opposition, you are getting hurt. Garrett said it on the Oilers game - the reason the Oilers had so few injuries is because of their size and I think there is a lot of truth in that. You don't have to be a goon and size should not equate to less skill. It is a factor about this team that JB is still needing to do work on.

Let's hope he makes it through. Decent skill, good skater, would be a lose if he was claimed. Needs to work on his conditioning and game sense. He has been out on hockey for about a year and a bit. Also, if you think he is soft you are a clown. I dare any of you to step on the ice with NHL type players. We'll soon see who is "soft"

What a silly comment.

As far as NHL players go, he is soft as butter.    How can you even argue that?

why would you compare that to any normal non NHLer?  That makes no sense.

Because he can skate fast, he isn't soft?

take him off skates, and he become soft to those people again.

People are calling him soft because he is a fragile guy, who doesn't hit and plays the perimeter more often than not.

He seems like a nice guy, and he has lots of skill and is fun to watch.

I like the guy, but it seems he doesn't quite have what it takes to be an NHL player.

Why are people getting so bent so bent out of shape about the guy getting waived?

At this time, he isn't there.  If he reports to Utica and improves on the North American style game, maybe he gets called up and makes the team.

If not, he goes on to have a great career in Sweden.

I am elated that I was wrong about the intelligence of the GM's in the NHL ...this will come back to bite each and every one of them....

I don't think it will be to long before we see him back up ....for good.

Maybe there's more that we don't know, but doubtful other GMs would know any underlying issues with the injury.  Would seem the timing is right viz everyone having to cut down their rosters, plus the health risk.  For that matter, Dorsett would likely clear as well if they did it right now, but I just cannot see them doing that to him, unless he isn't going to fully recover and they aren't able to move him in trade.

What's more likely.  Every NHL GM is an idiot because they aren't willing to give Rodin an NHL roster spot, OR, you're highly overestimating his value as an NHL player
