Anyone rocking a flip phone / tablet combo instead of a large screen phone?

ive been contemplating how i can have less in my pockets on any given day. ive explored getting a more minimalist wallet, removing unnecessary points cards from my wallet to reducing my key chain size.

a thought crossed my mind today though. are people out there rocking a flip phone / tablet combo?  the flip phone could be used for more day to day living where the tablet could be brought along when you expect to have a more casual day or free time between tasks.

with access to wifi at almost every location i would use my phone i thought maybe its worth considering.  has or does anyone currently use this to save on pocket space and their mobile bill?

just thought id ask.  i tend to txt to much on my smart phone. i feel im missing that voice connection

I have a ZTE flip phone, and an iPad with data.  I got the iPad when my legs gave out, so I could surf the Internet.  Never really used the computer before.  Then, when I got my scooter, and started getting out again, Mrs Alf insisted I carry a phone.  I only need it to be a phone if I need help, so that’s why the type.  Mrs. Alf has a fancy phone, which seems to be both a phone and an iPad.  Having one device seems more practical.

Side note - there's a goofball security guard in downtown Victoria who has an iPad in a giant thigh holster. I kid you not.

It's so ridiculous I can't help but laugh at him, I know laughing at people in public is mean, but I just can't help it.

What am I'm getting at? If you have too much stuff in your pockets, get a huge thigh holster. Everyone will be entertained, you'll make people laugh and that's a good thing.

Whats the difference between having a flip phone and a tablet versus just having a smart phone. Wouldn't having 2 devices be counterintuitive?

the idea would be you would only bring the tablet when you expect you will have downtime to surf ie at the local coffee shop, library for those who still use them, drs offices etc.

my thinking was why not leave it at home or have it in a small satchel or backpack thus leaving your thighs more room to move.  i find it restricting to have my pants full with my keys, wallet, phone. i miss the good old days as a kid before phones when you could fraulic about without a care or junk in your pockets

Here's the catch, Rush. Texting on a flip phone in a nightmare. The reason you spend too much time texting is because texting is more convenient for most people. Especially when they're working.

ive been told there is an app you can download on a pc/tablet/laptop that allows you to send txt msgs free using your phone #.  if i didnt have it on me. i would need to call or get use to that t4 system again. then again i use to be a boss nerd with my old phone with t4. i could walk or have a conversation well texting without even having to look at my phone. does anyone know if any of these flip phones have voice to text these days? that would be a game changer.

it may be counter productive. but how many of us already have tablets?  50%+ of the people i know do. hmmm.. thats the question though. does 2 devices make it worthwhile?

He wears a "themis security" jacket. Most recently seen at Broad and Pandora eyeing up the bike lanes by City Hall.

Wears a Tilley hat, overweight, long greasy hair.

He's basically the living enbodiment of "Paul Blart". Dude cracks me up.

sounds like a friendly guy id like to know.  i fill in security at times too lol.  im just not sure how practical it is to bring a tablet everywhere.. hmmm...

i would need to invest in a satchel or some small bag.  also cant check your tablet during work hours like you can briefly glance at your all in one smart phone.

what a pickle.  maybe that Samsung folder smart phone would work im not sure.

I can get GSM wireless data from the Nokia and grab my emails on the Palm. Only costs me $500 a month in data. Super convenient.

Yeee boi

Lol

Good call. I think OP is just looking for an excuse to carry around a man-bag of some kind. The logical solution for him would just to be to get a smaller smartphone and keep a tablet at home. Him purposely getting a phone that's incapable of basic smart phone use and then carrying a tablet, makes little sense. The non-Plus versions of the IPhone really aren't any bigger than a smartphone. They are a little longer, but a lot thinner.

Nice try OP.
