The problem is that Sakic seems to think Duchene is worth way more. Kypreos reported earlier this summer that Sakic wanted Galchenyuk, Segachev and a 1st for Duchene. But people are loosing patience with Sakic, and GM's aren't going to fall for that ridiculous asking price or he would have been moved in the summer. They've got off to an ok start so far, but the longer this drags on, the more locker room issues it will create and it will effect the team, even Foppa is commenting on it. There is talk that sakic know's how bad he failed on the O'reilly deal and is timid to making a similar mistake, but the longer he waits the lower more he backs himself into a corner. Canucks are all too familiar with waiting too long to pull the trigger on a deal.

He's got 2 choices, make the best deal he can (which won't be anywhere near what he was asking) or come out and publicly state that Duchene won't be traded. It may be too late for the second option though, hes done a lot of damage to the psyche of that teams dressing room

No stand outs down their but someone could surprise. The reason to trading Hutton is trying to package him in a deal for a proper winger for Horvat or an all around upgrade to our top 6 We have a bunch of prospects that could potentially fill out our top 6 over the next few years, not to mention the possibility of Kane signing as a free agent and future draft picks. Young, NHL defensemen with offensive upside aren't too easy to come by. and with Edler and Tanev probably on the way out within the next couple of years, the possibility of Guddy having a poor year and getting moved at the deadline or walking as a free agent, and Puliot and Juolevi not being anywhere close to sure things, it's a risk I don't take unless someone is willing to hilariously overpay. Silky mitts
Huttons value is vastly overrated on cdc
chon derry
since they would be packaging BH with additional players ,and the canucks approaching, say Colorado his value is somewhat diminished ,on the other hand if some team inquires about BH that's a little different, but because he is popular with his team mates and the fan base ,shopping him around means you really have to win the trade ,why upset the apple cart..........EDLER ! 48MPHSlapShot
Hutton's worth far more to us than he would be to another NHL GM. Move Tanev instead. Probably a bit too old to fit into our next core, his value is much higher than Huttons, and he's pretty injury prone.

Plus I think we sign Kane nxt year. Personally id give Derick A few games or platoon them for A bit. No need to trade any ypung D yet let's see how this season progresses. It makes you wonder tho with the DP trade. Is he planning on trading An LHD?

Is he planning on trading An LHD? Time will tell how DP performs once he gets a chance, but if he can fill the role of a playmaking D. I think it could allow us to move Hutton or if Edler does waive eventually move him out and keep Hutton. I also am not a big fan of the current Hutton Stecher pairing. Fairly inexperienced albeit the 3rd pairing but would much rather see Edler with Stech then Hutty with Tanev

ruilin96
Hutton + Baertchi + 2nd for Galchenyuk + 3rd But we are probably better off keeping Hutton and be patient with him and I like how JB's picks in the 2nd round so I would not want to trade away a valuable draft pick. This doesn't address Montreals needs at all. They already have too many waiver eligible D and don't really have much use for Baertchi. If Montreal moves Galchenyuk it will likely be to address their need for a top 2 scoring centre
