Pretty sure the Canucks were at 23 when Stetcher went down. and that is what created room to allow Demko to come up. I doubt they will play with Wiercioch and Chaput as their only possible injury fill-ins. I agree that Gaunce will likely come up after a conditioning stint but I would fully expect another body to come up in the interim.

Only games canucks have been at 23 (during the road trip) were Buffalo and Minnesota, and both were special circumstances. Buffalo was because of the Gudbranson suspension, so 22 were actually availible, and Minnesota was just because of Demko.

Since its only 4 games and considering canucks sent Wiercioch up/down just for the gudbranson suspension when they had room to keep him, I'd expect no one else to come up unless it's Gaunce.

Wasn't he going to play some games on a conditioning stint in Utica first?

EDIT: Oh, I think I understand. You're saying that we won't bring anyone up until Gaunce is ready?

I suppose it could have something to do with being cap compliant if no one has yet been placed on LTIR. IF we go with a 22 man roster we risk being short players if there are injuries during warm-up or illness. Unless cap is an issue I don't know why they would choose this route.

Only if they know he's not willing to re-sign here long term.

He's showing his value this season as a steady shutdown guy that can protect our goalie and drop the mitts. This team has needed what he brings to the table for awhile. Especially if we keep putting players like Tanev, Stecher, and Hutton in the lineup, who have almost no pushback.

I know this was pages ago....but frankly I'm picking Guddy as captain if resigned and Sedins retire in the summer.

I imagine if the Sedins retire, the captains will be horvat, sutter, Tanev, and Gudbranson.

However, if Guddy doesn’t resign, there’s a massive leadership hole. May MDZ would get an A, but idk if he’s the kinda guy you want in your leadership core. Maybe LE? But same thing with Loui, maybe not the best leader
