Crabcakes
It looks like Gaunce will be going on a conditioning stint in Utica soon. I thought a discussion here was thread worthy because the Canucks have been enjoying recent success and Gaunce is a likely insert into the line up in within 10 days or so. If this happens, there will be ripple effects throughout the line up. Is Gaunce going to be the extra forward? or more likely, Will Gaunce be slotted in a defensive role on the Sutter line? or, Other? My thought is that he will be slotted into Granlunds spot on the Sutter line. The question for me is whether he would be able to deal with the ice time however, I would expect him to start 5 x 5 only. Granlund would then shift to centre a line with Gagner and Vanek. So, the line up looks like this (in order of ice time so far): Baertschi Horvat Boeser Gaunce Sutter Dorsett Sedin Sedin Virtanen Gagner Granlund Vanek Thoughts? combover
I know it won’t happen but gagner is the one that should be out. Most likely brumistrov or a trade.
ForsbergTheGreat
Sit Gagner Baertschi Horvat Boeser Gaunce Sutter Dorsett Sedin Sedin Virtanen Granlund Burmistrov Vanek
hammertime
Looks about right. with obviously Gaunce not seeing more than 10 mins a night to start.

HerrDrFunk
Chaput gets sent down, Guance becomes the 13th forward.
48MPHSlapShot
It's tough right now. Based on performance, it should be Gagne that sits. However, that's a pretty decent chunk of money to be sitting. Unfortunately, it'll likely be Burmistrov that sits.
Ossi Vaananen
This too, with Eriksson out. Our depth this year is crazy. Gaunce is going for the full stint in Utica, so it's possible that someone gets hurt in that timeline. If he were to replace someone in our current lineup, I'd like it to be Gagner or Vanek. I think when Gaunce does comeback he'd be an excellent winger for Sutter/Dorsett; not that Granlund has been bad at all, just a more defensive fit for that unit. Assuming no further injuries: Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser Sedin - Sedin - Virtanen Granlund - Burmistrov - Vanek Gaunce - Sutter - Dorsett Gagner
JM_
the other option is Jim tries to slip him through waivers one more time. Its probably low risk, he's coming off major surgery and has one more year on his deal. He's wasted as the 13th F.

RonMexico
I dunno about Gaunce. At this point he seems destined to be a 4th line grinder at best. I wouldn't be upset if we lost him on waivers but even then I doubt he gets claimed. The AHL is full of clones of him. Big body, lacks grit and not a prolific scorer. The_Rocket
I imagine it depends heavily on how he plays in Utica. That being said, the Canucks only have 4 pk forwards in the lineup right now. It’s be worth it to add another guy who can take face offs and is responsible defensively.

Its a small sample size but so far he's good on face-offs and has shown to develop into a very good defensive player. He could potentially be very good on a 3rd line shutdown role. Sure there lots of guys like that but there's no point throwing money at someone else when he's already in the system. I think we'll see him sink or swim next season though. Goal:thecup
After his stint in Utica, I think TG will give Brendan a chance. He has earned that. Whether he can stay above the 13F position is another story. We have a lot of centers that are really good on the wing as well, so Gaunce will have a very difficult time supplanting anyone, imo. Chaput can be sent down without worrying about him getting claimed so I think that is what will happen. For Gaunce, he may go on waivers anyway if Louie comes back in good form (I do not think he was playing as poorly as some portray on here). We may see a trade if JB and TL become convinced they are going to lose Gaunce on waivers anways.
