Bingo. F=ma ... Anything hitting a plane while it's cruising along at ridiculous speeds is going to make a dent.

This is what I was thinking. (Same goes for Derp's idea of a drone) I think it must have happened fairly soon after takeoff, or just before landing.

Yes that was a thought I’d had. I think it would have to be during takeoff most likely as that’s when the speed would be highest.
