[Value Of] Jannik Hansen

Recommended Posts

I understand how unrealistic it would be to re-acquire a player from a team we just traded him to less than 9 months ago (for less value). But but Jannik Hansen has been a healthy scratch for the last 3 games in SJ.  Him and DeBoer do not seem to be on the same page with each other.  I personally would love to see if there was a way we could get back the honey badger.  He's only got a year left on his cap and I think he would look good in greens fast paced system.

What would it cost to get him back in a canucks uniform?

What would you be willing to give up?

Vanek+ Subban?

Gagner + Gaunce?

Love Hansen, but probably not good for him nor us to bring him back.

At age 31, I don't think he has many years left to be effective like he used to be. The only use for him that I can think of is as a RW alongside Sutter, but with Dorsett playing as well as he does now, I don't see a fit for him on this team.

I always liked Hansen.  He's fast, and was able to move up and down the lineup as required.  He generally settled into a point-every-other-game, and his energy and effort was always there.  Not sure what is happening in San Jose, but I would hate to see his career end like this.  Hopefully he gets another shot with another team if he can't get it to work out with the Sharks.

As for re-acquiring him, I wouldn't really mind seeing him back here but we just don't need him. Many of the guys in our bottom six are younger and/or capable of putting up the same level of points, or both.  There's just no point unless it was basically a giveaway.

Love the proposal. %100 bring him back.

But honestly, I think you're offering way too much. He's a healthy scratch with his value at an all time low.

All we got for him was Goldy... and a hypothetical 1st rounder that didn't happen.

I'd Gagner or Gaunce alone should suffice. Depending what they prefer cap wise.

Vanek and Subban should be hung on to.

I think it's best to move away from the past glory years and build on what we have.

In today's news - Some people just can't let go.

it's not about living in the past, it's about getting a player that fills our system, (speed and quick transition) and allows us to dump a redundant piece.  For example Gagner makes zero sense on this roster and we have him for 3 more years.  Hansen has one year left on his deal.  If we could swap Gagner and Hansen it's a win/win.  It's not like I want him to be signed for another 5 years.

The point of passing the torch to the young players is that we move on fully from those that are gone, as much as we may love them.

He's got one year left on his contract, so really, he holds back our youth as much as Vanek does.  I'd much rather have Hansen's work ethic on the team this year than vanek's

We'd get the retained salary spot back which might allow us to trade the Sedins if they so wish later in the year, so there's that...

If we're out of contention come the deadline, maybe a 25-30 goal Vanek to SJ for Hansen and a conditional 1st might be something if we want to make retained salary transactions elsewhere?!

I don't get the hate on Sam Gagner doing just fine slow start right now but I'm not pulling my hair out like I did when Chaput or Megnalast season. Plus we have Brendan Gaunce getting to the point of return to hockey. If we bring back Hansen fans would get angry if he sits because he's not contributing to the success of the club. It's best to not remarry a fan favourite when in rebuild mode let's marry the next generation.

Fair enough, I've just just always been of the mind set that there's no going back.
