Seeing zero of this on any of the sports sights, so I'm going to go with there will be no further punishment.  The NHL will see the 1 minute and change he served in the box as fine.

Meanwhile, (saw this while out for dinner), Matt Beleskey  in the BOS/TOR game clearly instigated a fight in retaliation for a Matt Martin hit....no instigator penalty was assessed.  You rock NHL.

dude has a $894,167 cap hit and aav $1,664,167 for this year.        Less than $2,500 fine- BFD.      Horrible decision by DPS.

Edit to add.

Maybe MDZ should sue Timo or the league? Perhaps that is what it will take to get the NHL to be serious about discipline?

Can't really rely on them to clean the game up.  They are inconsistent with most of their ruling.  The instigator rules prevents the Canucks to police the game and it is really up to DoPS to clean the game up because of this rules in place.  This cheap shot to the face could cause concussion and this is what the NHL is trying to take out of and if they allowed Meier to get away with it, it shows us that they do not really care about this serious issue about the concussion prevention .  If Del Zotto sustained concussion, this is a preventable injury if Meier controlled his anger impulsive reaction.  So hold him accountable for lack of temperance by suspending Meier would be a good start to show us that the league is taking this serious concerning their lawsuits pending in the court.   The players can use the latest ruling against the league in the court and the court will say to them, why are no you not taking action by suspending the player that is a preventable head shots like this.  It is in best interest for the league to take action.  I would bet you that plaintiff lawyers are watching this closely and use every excuse in the book why they should win the case against the NHL.

Could not MDZ proced to charge him of criminal charges ?

the league rules are skewered an have a variable sliding double standard! This could be proven in a court of law tons of videos out there to roll before a judge.

Maybe the Canucks players who were on the ice should get suspended too for not reacting.

Because of all the head hits and the league cracking down on contact with the head, this was a deliberate hit to the head so would be shocking to see the league not issue a suspension, but again this is the Canucks we're talking about and the hate against us from the league sure wouldn't be surprising if he isn't suspended sadly.

(Edit) just saw the tweet  wow what a surprise not NHL = JOKE

Yes he should. Will he? I would be surprised.  NHL does very little to protect its players.  There should be a zero tolerance policy for these acts.  if you enforce it hard they will stop.  It's a stupid play and the nhl doesn't care.  He should get a 5-6 game suspension minimum.  players wouldn't be pulling that crap if that was the penalty.

Call up a plug to deal with him, next game.

Now that's the problem if the league had any consistency we wouldn't have to think like that, but now because the league is a joke and didn't suspend him now we have to think like this, and I always go back to the Bertuzzi Moore incident and it's the blame on the league for not doing anything.

Terrible decision...

Could at least understand if they didn't find it was done on purpose (still wrong), but admitting he's guilty, and then fine him less than he spends on ice-cream each week is nothing short of ridiculous.

So what else is new...

Del Zotto is now officially a Canuck... Welcome to Canucks justice.
